:icon_eek: Remmy, you surprise me every day, more, more, more!
Where do you get the idea that this is connected to H. Bohannon?
A Kalimba is an African finger piano, used a lot on EWF records!

Just listening to Earth Wind & Fire's
KALIMBA STORY from 1974 .....
sure brings to mind Bohannon
Do you suppose this song is actually about him ?
LYRICS :
Saw it in a store, one day.
Thought it might, make me play
Future music all for you-
Seen me thru my hardest times-
thought it was 'bout time, to open
a new world just for you-
Fills all my needs, gave me the key
Door was open, for me to see
Playin around the world, touchin'
All the boys and girls with a new
love to make them free
Kalimba, ooh kalimba, play me a tune
Kalimba, ooh kalimba, I'm glad I found you
Kalimba, ooh kalimba, play me a tune
Kalimba, ooh kalimba sends a message to you
If you lend an ear and you have no fear
The vibration will move your mind
It's new to you, sounds true to you
Sacred music before it's time
Play it for ya now, wanna see
just how, my kalimba get next to you
Are you ready now, well get ready
Come along, groove with the new-
Kalimba, ooh kalimba, play me a tune
Kalimba, ooh kalimba, I'm glad I found you
Kalimba, ooh kalimba, play me a tune
Kalimba, ooh kalimba sends a message to you

Baby, take me
high upon a hillside
high up where the stallion
meets the sun

Are you goin' stir crazy????? :icon_biggrin: :icon_biggrin: :icon_biggrin:
It don't mean a thing (if ain't got that swing)

I'll probably regret dragging this bended topic out from the forgotten recesses .........BUT :icon_lol: ....
... the song can now be heard on youtube ....
KALIMBA STORY EW&F
....Now honestly, aren't there shades of Bohannon to be found within the sounds of this song ???? its pulse ....the instruments ....the vocals ....the grooove:icon_confused:
:icon_idea: ......:icon_question:
Don't know why I ever drug the lyrics into it though.... it was the Nyquil I tell ya !!!!:icon_lol::icon_lol:

"yes and no" ...... OK, I'm good with that!![]()
.... that's at least progress
....
I agree, EW&F's sound is as you say, more edgy here..a departure for them ... doing a guitar driven tune... It's not their signature bigger sound with horns and such .
:icon_lol:But, Remmy, thx for posting coz' I never heard this track before and it would make me feel better if I had a cold. The song that is, not this:
& u r welcome !
True enough VS, a couple of swigs of Nyquil isn't going to do a darn thing for a cold :icon_razz: ....
.... but they can sure make listening to old disco tunes a lot more trippy !!![]()
