Remicks-Is it because they charted on 3 different lists: R&B/Soul,Pop and Disco?
Or is it that these were the best selling singles
of these artists careers?

Disco was very good to a wide variety of acts .....including some whose music would expectantly be found filed over in the rock bins.
Look at both Rod Stewart and The Doobie Bros. for example .
In 1979 each released very shocking ( to many) yet successful 12" disco singles:
DO YA THINK I'M SEXY
and
WHAT A FOOL BELIEVES
This most daring of disco probing was very good for them indeed ... because of these songs each of these acts were rewarded in the utmost of ways chartwise .:icon_cool:
By that I mean…….????

...Pizza?
...Recognition?
...Naked nymphomaniac teenager groupies waiting backstage?
Rod Stewart was nominated for 2 Grammy awards for "Best Pop vocal performance" and "Best Disco recording"; and the Doobies won a 3 Grammy Awards for theirs ( for "Pop Vocal Performance by a Group" + "Record of the Year" + "Album of the Year") . And both singles went #1 for several weeks.
Any relevance there?

Remicks!!!
Now, if you're going to spell it out, I can only finally get the hint and confidently assume you're referring to their best-selling albums!?!
It appears, in 1979, both LPs sporting the aforementioned tracks were in the top 10 selling albums:
#5 was "Minute by minute", by the Doobie Bros.,
#8 was "Blondes have more fun", by Rod Stewart.

Yes ..... the one thing better than a number one single .... is a number one album :icon_cool:
As was the case for Rod Stewart's BLONDES HAVE MORE FUN (DO YA THINK I'M SEXY was the album's only Top 40 hit )
and the Doobies' MINUTE BY MINUTE LP ( WHAT A FOOL BELIEVES being that LP's only Top 40 hit)
These two disco songs directly delivered number one albums to each of these acts.

They were actually #1 albums? I thought the ranks I provided were accurate, as I found them on a specialized site. Hmmm! Cain't truss nobody!
