    Al Bandiero

It looks like Al Bandiero is back on NYC radio; this time at 103.5 (The Old KTU).

After listening to him talk on the radio for a few minutes, there is something about this fella I don't like. During the broadcast I could tell that he was restraining himself from saying the word "disco" so he was always saying "dance" (I could tell from the way he was saying the word it sounded contrived). He also came off as being rather pompous, recalling meeting former Kiss memeber Paul Stanley in some chi-chi Japanese restaurant in L.A. the previous night with his baby son.

Anyone here have an opinion of Bandiero you'd like to share too?

Al Bandiero has been on for over a year now. After Joe Causi moved to Mix102. Now that station went under.

Al's competent, but somewhat "whitebread" in his demeanor. Mechanic.

I was thinking of discussing this also. KTU(Clear Channel) has made some bad choices the past couple of years. Because of recent media attention to the payola scandal and mafia ties, they have become a very programmed radio station. Over-programmed.

Loss of good DJ's, mixers and radio personalities have me listening less. No repeat workdays has me running for digital stations online. I want to hear the current music too. And hiring Whoopi? :icon_eek:

New York City could do a lot better when it comes to dance radio stations.
I hear they are better in Long Island. True?

It's unfortunate that club music on NYC radio is in guarded condition. When 102.7 switched over to a redux of chick radio (remember "Blink"?), I noticed that KTU was playing a lot of the music that Mix had left behind, more so than before.

Personally, Mix 102.7 was great about two-and-a-half years ago when it was a combination of current and past hits, with RuPaul doing the morning shift.

Radio stations today are unlistenable. I can't go anywhere without listening to ubiquitous WLTW (Lite FM), which makes me want to heave. Thank goodness I have a lot of CDs to listen to.

How about satellite radio? I haven't listened to a regular radio station in almost 2 years, and when I am forced to - I hate it, thanks to the limited musical choices and tons of commercials.

I have Sirius, and Joe Causi is on their "disco" channel, called the Strobe. I caution you, it's not 100% disco, they recently have started mixing in some freestyle and eighties dance, but they also have reached back and brought out some nice 12 inch club tracks from the disco heyday that you certainly won't hear anywhere else. And, no commercials.

And, Howard Stern! Well, sometimes - he takes a lot of time off these days, working only 3 or 4 days a week. But, the music channels are worth the money.

Needle fingers is right about Bandiero. It is also true that the station has gone down over the past couple of years. Having lived in Brooklyn all my life, I find it sad that the music selection is so bad on the racio these day's. I have also switched to satelite radio. Channel 22 has Causi, and Danny Terrio if you can believe that. The music is much better and no commercials is a big plus.
