Besides Marky's suggestion, you can try Rhetta Hughes "Angel Man (G. A.) about the Guardian Angels on the NYC subway. Also IRT "Watch the Closing Doors" with "IRT" (Inter-Borough Rapid Transit) being a play on one of the many lines that make up the NYC subway system.

There is also a truly awful song released around 1984 entitled "M. T, A." (can't remember the artist).
Some of the stellar lyrics include:
"Now you know
there's no escape
from robbery
or sometimes rape
but that's the way
things are today
on the M. T. A.
On the MMMMMMMTTTTTTAAAAAAAA"
Yuck.

Interesting signature quote; where does this one come from?
\"...a once in a lifetime feeling that returns every week...\"
Hi Jeff! It's Sybil Danning's final "battle-cry" from BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS (1980).

hi JUSTINMARKV11 ill add a couple of possibilities "SUBWAY RIDER" uptown local featuring bobby cotter-drive 1977 a funky record beginning with train announcer on 14th st, then you hear the train start then they chant "come on get down to the underground"....."this train is full of funk, movin over the hump, goin bumpety bump" then singing about how the subway is the only way to travel in the city, theres a long break with a real funky guitar with more come on get down chants and at the end the train brakes.
another is "SUBWAY" samona cooke[sams daughter]sweet city/epic 1977 starts with train moving then breaking then turns into a big uptempo dancer "take me to the subway ooooh take me to the subway.........."no work no sweat no strain, ive got to make it to the mid-night-train" i think this could be really rare havnt seen one for sale for 15 years. never seen a 12" if one exists, would be amazing :P but it could be the one youre looking for
Let's not forget The Last Poets 'rapping' On The Subway. This is early rap/poetry from the late 60's. If the song you're thinking of was heard on the radio, then this ISN'T your song. This poetry was bitter, biting and brutal in its language. No radio play could be given without bleeping out half the poem. Of course today, no one would notice. :o
