    the album "Watson Beasley"

is anyone else fond of this record? the 2 songs that open side 2, "Breakaway" and "Don't Let You Chance Go Bye" are SO good I bought 3 copies of this album! I have a hard time describing the music, though...it seems to have elements of pop, disco and r and b. It's like a disco version of Ashford and Simpson.....

skinflint!-do NOT get me started about this
LP! I have sung it's praises so often I had to
stop for fear of being kicked off the boards.
It is one of the best "complete" disco lps of
all time for me-along with Cerrone's "Supernature",Donna's "Bad Girls/Once Upon
    a Time" and Diana's "The Boss"..Not only
do you have 3 top 10 disco singles-"What's
on My Mind",Don't Let Your Chance Go By"
and "Breakaway",but you also have two more
    stunners-"Body Free" and "Darlin' I".Also
included is a perky "Helpless"-makes this
essential disco listening.A few years ago I found
an import CD on Amazon and thought I'd died
and gone to heaven-THANKYOU for bringing
this up to everyone's attention Skin!

Yep. I own the 12-inch of Breakaway. First time I heard it was at a premiere club utilizing state of the art Phase Linear amplifiers; this was in 1980. One of the most complete 'high energy' cuts to bolt through the dance floor at the time.

I'd love to get it (ie, the LP) on CD through Amazon if possible.

I'm a big fan of this album also. Especially Breakaway and Don't Let Your Chance Go Bye.

There is a remix of Breakaway that turns into a medley of other big disco songs. Does anybody know where that mix is from? Is it a disconet mix?

There is a Hot Tracks mix that use the tracks
continued breaking to segue into other
disco classics. It was on a Hot Classics but I'm
confused as to which exact one....

I thought I was the only one that absolutely loved this album! Glad there are more of us out there!

Then remix/medley of "Breakaway" that had other songs mixed into it was the White Label Extended Dance Disc (Bootleg) by Mixx Master, who was actually Ron Rice - a DJ from the Lost & Found in Washington D.C.

This completely missed my radar when it was out as I don't think it made much impression in the UK on any level but I was impressed by its almost cult status on this site so I thought I'd order the CD from Amazon to see what I'd missed & my first impression is that the songs & arrangements are a bit patchy (I'll have to give it a few more listens) but the production job is very impressive. I can imagine how good some of the tracks sounded in a club. I notice that it's produced by Peter Alves who worked with Gino Soccio on another criminally ignored LP by the Gotham Flasher in '79. It seems that anything involving Peter or Gino has very high production values which always goes down well with me!:icon_biggrin:
