a big hello and my first Disco question

    Hi people!

I have found this forum by searching for the original artist of "Freemasons - Love on my mind" (Jackie Moore - This time Baby)
And I am very fascinated by this issue... do you know of more "modern" House tracks, which are sampled from the 70s, or is there even a big thread about this somewhere here already?

Thumbs up Re: a big hello and my first Disco question

Look for just about anything from Pierre De La Touche his M/O is sampling 70's songs and re structuring them into new Club/House tracks.

And many of them are quite good IMHO:icon_smile:

What I'd like to know is what the hell is wrong with composers/musicians today when they can't even come up with their own melodies/compositions instead of copying off others work... it's ridiculous... they will go through anything as long as they don't have to hire an orchestra to play real instruments

Because it's the lazy generation! Why work for your living when you can nick it everywhere! The download mob! The copymafia!

    See the HipHop/Rap backlash topic.

    P. Diddy, Daddy Puffy, Popididleewop, R U Listening??????

Today's radio is cool though, 99% of the current Top 40 is the same as thirty years ago. Just other faces, the song remains the same

Because with programs such as Cubase, it is easy to lift samples and drop them into tracks, to create new tracks and sounds...e.g. if you listen to

Flame Groove - Sunshine Boogie - you will hear at least three Disco tracks (including Running Away & Blame It On The Boogie) repackaged into a new tune. Higher Aspire - Get Up on the Dancefloor, is another example of a House tune sampling Disco...I think this one includes Lets Start The Dance...

I'd argue that the riffs & samples used by today's Producers are used as they can't be beaten/bettered, particularly if you are creating modern dance music.

It may be worth checking out the track listings for the 'sampled' CD series...if that' s what you are into
