It was nice of Michael to show up for the funeral. However, I thought it was very distasteful that some of the women at the funeral were screaming out Michael's and Bootsy's names.

Diana didn't go to the memorial because she didn't want to cause a stir since she had been named caretaker of Michael's children if anything were to happen to Michael's mother .That which came as a surprise to Mrs Jackson as well as many people and she would have been hounded by the press, just as they have been hounding Debbie Rowe in regaurds to the childrens custody.
She was showing respect and said she didn't want to take any of the spotlight away from Michael and we all know Diana has a way of shining..I think she did the right thing in this case. a true Lady~!!

Re: Picture: Michael Jackson at Brown's funeral

Do we know whether Miss Ross attended the after-funeral "repast" (I think that's what they called it! :icon_confused:) held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel? I heard a reporter make a comment that the likes of Miss Ross Or Elizabeth Taylor might have attended that gathering instead of the Staples Center affair. :icon_eek:

But I've seen no photos...so I think not. I heard Miss Ross was rather taken aback to be named as a caretaker of Michael's children in his will ...seemingly never having discussed the matter with Michael when he was alive....just what someone said on the radio....although she did agree to do so in her statement read by Smokey Robinson. But if the Jackson daughters and brothers can't take care of those kids, it's a damn shame. Janet seemed maternal with Paris at the Staples Center....Janet has no kidz and her career is on "simmer" at the moment--so I choose her to take the kidz. Aren't I the decider? No? Oh, never mind.

I hope Miss Ross was there ....or the private services the night before...
...although I'm sure there's at least one good reason that didn't suite her either ....

Elizabeth Taylor we can give a break ....I'm guessing she's quite frail these days ....she doesn't show up at awards shows etc.....

and Janet Jackson !! good grief!! Isn't there a two parent family somewhere in this tribe ???

You know there wouldn't even be this mess if there were a Mom in the picture.(remember those??) Family Values Crusaders should start addressing the real problems in our society these days when it comes to rearing kids and the family values therein. Kids are not purchasable accessories.

What needs to stop immediately are these privileged ""stars" that collect various kids like they're picking detergent off a shelve.

Yes, I'm mad about these kids Michael's left floating out in nowhere's ville.

Re: Picture: Michael Jackson at Brown's funeral

Well remmy, Michael Jackson did purchase these kids. Debbie Rowe gifted them to Michael. Now I always assumed she was the biological "mother" but rumors abound that she was just the incubator/birthing vehicle. Who knows? Whatever is said one day is refuted by someone the next.

I thought Janet was in a relationship (possibly married to Jermaine Dupri)--but a Google says they broke up. Oh never mind. Ok, anyone but LaToya!!! M'kay?

Those two oldest kids look South American (Brazilian???) to me. I guess Michael dyed their hair blonde as kidz--because the boy at least was totally blonde. [See Martin Bashir's documentary] I doubt his hair would have darkened so much by 12 if he had really been a blonde. But I can't prove it! :icon_twisted: They are very cute kidz. I hope someone gives them a decent upbringing.

does anybody else think it's really ironic that, after some of the "less than kind" things Michael Jackson said publicly about his father, now his father just MAY be in a position to participate in the raising of HIS (Michael's) children? (though I'm sure he'd be watched very carefully if he did). Another thing I doubt I'll ever understand is how a man as unquestionably intelligent as Michael Jackson nevertheless couldn't figure out how to better manage his health OR his money. Finally, if I were Diana Ross, I wouldn't have attended either considering the circumstances. The fact that she was mentioned in the will was proof she was important to Jackson.

I doubt that Evil Joe Jackson :icon_evil: will get his hands on the kidz. He's lived in Vegas for the past 10 years--separately from Katherine, who lives in Encino. So I guess we could say they are "not together" anymore. Just guessin'. I have no inside info--but they are BOTH way too old to be raising kidz. :icon_confused:

And you know Joe's first thought would be "how can I make some $$$ off them." Oh you know it's true.

The whole family is weird. I felt uncomfortable watching daughter Paris making her comments at the memorial. It's like she was pushed to going up to the microphone against her will.

Because the kids are MJ's, they're going to be pawns due to their worth. I don't think anyone in their family should get custody, and I'm not sure Debbie Rowe should either. Maybe someone outside of the US who is loosely connected to them biologically should get them until things simmer down.

Yes, I felt the same way. It looked like she was being "coached" into giving that little speech. It looked stage-managed. Yet it broke people's hearts and did MJ more good than anything else that was said, I bet. :icon_confused:

If she had shown up, would she have sung this song? It's definitely one of my favourites from her entire career. It was for Marvin Gaye.

I thought of that too. But it was dedicated to Marvin...so probably not a thing she could do. :icon_confused:

BUT---the perfect song for her to sing would have been "Smile" (FROM HER 1976 LP "DIANA")

When I saw Jermaine sing it, I thought "oh a hasty replacement for Diana or some other big name"...but maybe Jermaine wanted it for himself. :icon_eek:

I thought Jermaine's rendition of SMILE was moving ....until that keyboard player got overly impromptu. I don't know how Jermaine made it thru it !!

And yes I thought Paris was all ready to speak and then Janet and others started to sort of shove her and telling her to speak up and I think she got flustered and confused about what she intended to say ....

I noticed the music video also included images of Florence Ballard and Paul Williams, both of whom died in the 70s. Unless she had no say in the final cut of the video, I think it may have been mainly for Marvin, but the sentiment could have carried over to MJ. Smile would have been nice, but Jermaine had that one covered. :)

I have to admit, I didn't watch the whole thing, just highlights. I did record it, but from what I can tell, there wasn't any uptempo tracks. Why didn't they do that, like they did with James Brown? I know it was a funeral, but it would have been nice to celebrate his happy moments. Although, I don't know if Thriller would have been appropriate with a Jackson impersonator dressed as a zombie. ;)

Well with James Brown, he died of natural causes at a respectable age . Michael died unnecessarily at a comparably earlier part of his life........so I think with James Brown it was a little more celebratory of a long lived life well done .
