These two discs are part of the Ambassador Soul series that Nicky and I have previously mentioned. You can get them now at David Nathan's R&B and Soul Pages site! He's the one responsible for having a bunch of wonderful albums from the 70s released on CD.

RIGHT ON, KEEFE! And don't they sound fantastic. David Nathan's Ambassador Soul series is first rate. I was floored by the remastering. Excellent. Nothing cheap in these productions. I thought Dionne's Track of The Cat sounded good but when I picked up Then Came You... WOW!! Plus, Mr. Nathan offers them a month before official release and charges nothing extra. :D

Yup! Totally agree with you, Nicky. Plus, have you seen the imports he's been locating? I'm currently waiting for Marlena Shaw's Live In Tokyo and the Three Degrees compilation with the long version of Giving Up, Giving In.

I did mention to David that I would love to see the two Giorgio Moroder produced Three Degrees albums on CD ("New Dimensions" and "3D"). He actually wrote back to me asking what label they were on. Possible new titles for his series??? I sure hope so!

Like your style, sir. When I saw Marlena I was like, uh-oh, import money will be spent!

This guy, as busy as he must be, is very personable. I've written him twice and he responded each time. He even helped find an old Laura Lee I was looking for. :)

Nicky, I love whenever I find out that Mr. Nathan has written liner notes for a CD rerelease. Always interesting! Can you imagine if he wrote the liner notes for the Supremes "70s Anthology" set? By the way, I just noticed that "You're What's Missing In My Life" is on that compilation! Can't wait to play it this weekend.

By the way, did you ever get David's "Soulful Divas" book?

Funny you should mention that anthology because that's what I've been playing while browsing around. Sounds so sweet, though I'm going to have to give a good listen tomorrow. I think I'm detecting some remastering flaws which will drive me freaking nuts.

About those liner note, I'm sure David would have done an excellent job. What's got me smiling about these is that they're written by Mary Wilson. Each time Mary refers to Ms. Ross she calls her Diane. That's right, DIANE, not Diana. Got to love it --- won't give the woman a break.

So, Ross fans, is her real name Diane? That's the way she was referred to also in The Temptations movie.

    Nicky,

The story goes that the parents of Miss Ross intended their second daughter's name to be "Diane", but a clerical error at the hospital had "Diana" entered on her birth certificate. She was called "Diane" all her life by family and friends; but became Diana when she started singing, probably because it had a nicer, uh ...flow (NOT FLO).

Mary ALWAYS refers to her as "Diane"; probably as if to say "bitch, I knew you when...don't get all high and mighty with me".

On E.T recently they asked Diane/Diana what she would be doing Halloween and her response was "handing out candy".

I thought to myself, yeah right, like you would actually get up and answer your own door and give out candy to the neighbor kids.

You'd probably have to pass a security screening and a thumb print analysis before you'd even make it to her front door.

That's 'cos Diana Ross is a true superstar & not a has-been (more never-was!) like Mary Wilson.

Hmmmm... Superstar. If only Ms. Ross had paid more attention to the lyrics of that great Motown jam:

SUPERSTAR --- DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU'RE REAL FRIENDS ARE?
SUPERSTAR --- REMEMBER HOW YOU GOT WHERE YOU ARE.
