Yesterday I had big fun at the Belgian Zolder racetrack where I had the chance to test the Lamborghini Gallardo.
Twelve Cylinders, 580 PS, 650 Newtonmeter, 0-100 KPH in 3.8 seconds, topspeed 330 KPH and 215.180 Euro.
When the door clicks in and you find yourself in the sportslounge you immediately notice 1 thing: the smell of leather, luxury and greatness. Once you are installed in the raceseats, you are comfortable and ready to go!
Turn the key and half a second later the 6,2 liter V12 shakes your booty. What a divine sound! The interior may be German, the engine makes that historical Italian roar!
Then comes the surprise: the pedals are fit for my great feet, the servo stearing wheel and the gearbox are so smooth as my wife's....ok!
One tip on those pedals and the Lambo drifts away, you simply don't feel how fast you are driving which makes it a dangerous car for speeding tickets.
The Italo-Toro handles remarkably well in the curbs, I never left the road with it (with the SLR I did) although I sometimes was pushing it to the limit. The car simply follows every inch of the stearing wheel and ABS and traction-control do their (and your) job.
It's fair to say that I was accompanied by a professional racecarpilot who gave strict instructions.
What's more important: this really is a car that you can drive daily and in all weather conditions, opposed to other Italomobiles who are toys that spend more time in the garage than on the road.
I had a great afternoon and I give this car a thumbs up!
