Sorry, not my type of movie. When you see it I'll be eager to read your review.
Or are you telling me you're not going??
There certainly has been a lot of hype over this movie and Jennifer Hudson is even getting some Oscar buzz. I've never been a big fan of Beyonce's voice though, but she is nice to look at.

Find them and destroy them!
I REALLY wish Beyonse would take a break and give some other young actresses a chance, but one good thing about this movie being released is that Mary Wilson will be getting some attention for her book (she already has started performing in concert and giving interviews, at least in my area). And I wish some of Motown's other female artists could get some attention too: Martha and the Vandellas, the Marvellettes, etc. And what EVER happened to the movie that was in the works about the life of Marvin Gaye?
Have my tickets to see it this Sunday at the Metreon in SF! We're one of the cities with the Dreamgirls Roadshow!!! I've been told not to set my expectations too high. :icon_eek: Uh oh!
Even the cartoonists are having fun with this movie.

Just got home from seeing Dreamgirls this afternoon. IMHO, the movie is FABULOUS!!!!!
All the rave reviews & Golden Globe nomination for Jennifer Hudson are well deserved. I found myself craving for her to be back on the screen whenever she was gone. Loud and prolonged applause from our audience after "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" and then at the end when her picture appeared during the credits. She is the reason to see this movie!
I also have to say that Beyonce was perfect as Deena/Diana. She looked SO MUCH like Miss Ross at certain points of the movie. She also looked alot like a young and beautiful Linda Clifford during other parts.
Finally, Eddie Murphy is really good as a James Brown/ Marvin Gaye character!
Wonderful, wonderful movie! :icon_biggrin:
