It's strange that he picks on some celebs for bad skin, but leaves others alone. When Longoria hosted SNL last year, her face looked like a frickin' road map in HD. Her complexion was so bad, Cameron Diaz was laughing at it.
This guy is posting about which beauties will be most affected by high definition TV, that's it because their botox injections and skin problems will be more naked than ever:

Can someone explain this to me? We are not familiar with HDTV yet. Does it accentuate some probs or.....
Johan, HDTV, High Definition Television has the capability of giving high resolution images. So if there's a close-up for example, pimples, wrinkles, etc. not easily seen if seen at all on standard TV would be clearly visible on HDTV.
Find them and destroy them!
Ah, that's much better. Thanks for shoving my balls back on me :icon_lol:
Find them and destroy them!
You guys are extraordinarily silly...that's why I luvs ya.
Yes, Paul, she did look that bad...they tried to cover her breaking out with trowels of make up, but it didn't work. We have a 51" Sony Wega with 1080i/720p, and nothing escapes that sucker.
Try and see it in reruns. She did a funny sketch mocking contemporary dance artists and sang a great parody song called "At The Club".
HD is a cruel mistress, and I know that here in NY (and I suspect in LA), many TV makeup artists have had to"re-learn" their craft. People with notoriously bad skin like Cameron Diaz and Ray Liotta are trying to adapt. People with horror movie skin like Edward James Olmos or news anchor/reporter Andrea Mitchell are just **** out of luck.

HD came to late night TV first on the Jay Leno's Tonight show about two years ago already, when they first went on the air many Guests looked terrible because they were still experimenting with new make up techniques and with Camera filters to hide some of the artist's imperfections, I read later that a few Artists refuse to appear until something was done, but even so, still you can see all kind of nasty defects not visible on regular TV, not even on DVD. Sometimes you can even read Tattoos around their ankles, and catch all kinds of moles
Last night Corine Bailey Rae performed and she was suffering from terrible nasty rashes around her chin and face, luckily the Microphone hid most of it, but it was still visible.
Once Conan O'brian, - another show that went HD a while back already- was goofing off with extreme close ups of his face, and one could see spots he missed after shaving and hairs sticking out of his nose!!! :icon_lol:
PS: If you use an 'over the air' antenna to catch the networks HD channels you get a better more clear picture still, much better than Cable TV or Satellite.
Paul, that ex was Puerto Rican/Italian, tiny like Longoria and quite yummy indeed...oh, to be young again.
The OTA HD signals are uncompressed, as opposed to cable and satellite. I believe this also applies to digital signals as well. I remember when switching from analog cable to satellite, we happened to see "Antique Roadshow" uncompressed through our building's master antenna. It was only a 480i/480p picture, but it looked damn close to some compressed HD I've seen. We gat a pretty good HD pic with HD/digital cable (Cablevision....yuk) but we'll switch to FIOS as soon as it is available. Relatives that have it say the HD pic is superior.

with Cable it depends on your carrier, but in general they take the 'over the air' signal, then process and compress it to fit their technical requirements according to how many channels they need to squeeze in the bandwidth allocated to them. Network channels (they are required to carry this) are the worst, the rest of the HD channels look better since you have to pay for them.
Satellite (DirecTV)is expanding their capabilities now (Mpeg4), and they promise the Picture quality will be even better all around when they are done, but you'll need a newly designed Dish and Box to see the difference, their existing HD Broadcast Network channels are very compressed, (even on Standard Def satellite) affecting PQ and colors, that's why many serious aficionados prefer to use OTA to pick up the local HDTV broadcast stations, which are not as compressed (many local stations are reducing the HD bandwidth to include a second Digital weather report channel but still much better than SAT.).
Of course, if not built into your display you'll need a HD OTA decoder box (you can also use the SAT Company’s rental box) and the proper antenna for your area. Like with Analog Cable before Digital/HDTV (regular broadcast local channels always better with your own antenna) most people couldn’t care less and rather prefer 'convenience' over Picture Quality, also apartment/Condos dwellers may have no choice, since they may be ‘blocked’ or forced to use a ‘community’ Satellite or Cable.

Ps: According to reports Dish network apparently has better PQ, they offer more HDTV channel choices than DirecTV as of right now.
Gee... I was kinda sad because my "Fiction reading" thread didn't have any posts, but then I remembered trash sells better and now I have like 15 posts in one dayI have to do a Jerry Bruckheimer seminar

From what you guys are sayin' it seems all those fifty-something actresses with nose jobs will hid under the bed forever... Or re-invent themselves as Wes Craven's villains?
"Kid, you better eat that soup or I'll put the Goldie Hawn channel NOW!"![]()

THE GOLDIE HAWN CHANNEL? Bwahahaha! :icon_mrgreen:. Would that channel have the program "Honey, I Forgot To Pay For These Items At The Store"? Goldie is notorious for her five finger discounts at stores, as well as wearing items and trying to return them once they have her special "Goldie scent".
HD seems to be rather unkind to 50+ newsies rather than actresses. I mentioned the unfortunate Andrea "Dark Side Of The Moon" Mitchell. Appearing in HD is tough for Diane Sawyer and Meredith Viera as well...they seem to shoot them in such soft-focus that it makes Cybill Sheperd in "Moonlighting" look like cinema verite'.

Boodi, I don't think Alan Greenspan wants you to dog his wife, Andrea Mitchell anymore. :icon_lol:

Paul, I wouldn't "dog" her with YOUR @#$%!![]()
