    Arrow R.I.P. Mariska "Venus" Veres

    Mariska Veres, lead singer of Dutch band "Shocking Blue" passed away yesterday at the age of 59.

    "Venus" was a world hit and in the 80's successfully covered by Bananarama.

    This news appeared in the local newspaper, a first for disco-related artists. But was Shocking Blue really disco? What year was this?

    "Venus" is from 1969 and "Inkpot" from 1972. I never considered them as dancetracks, maybe those sites are focusing on the Bananarama-release.

    Mariska was such a great singer with that special erotic voice and she was a very kind and warm person. She was from Hungarian/German descendance:
