David Lynch's MULHOLLAND DRIVE was apparently by far the best film of 2001 - right or wrong? As us here in Europe have still a month to wait for it's realese I'd give the Oscar to Christopher Gans's THE BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLVES, a lavishly presented mix of Three Musketeers-style historical adventure, bloody horror, kung fu and colorful Angelique Marquise of The Angels-type romance. Better than AMELI». Intricate plot, incredibly magnificent sets, lush costumes, and not too abrasive use of CGEs.
Runners-up: THE LORD OF THE RINGS, Breillat's A MA SOEUR / FAT GIRL.
The Turkey Award goes to...PEARL HARBOUR.
I don't see a lot of movies, so I'll just do a quickie:
Best: Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. Hilarious. The only real problem with it is that you need to have seen all of Kevin Smith's films to get many of the jokes.
Worst: Training Day. Appallingly clichÈd and boring. I actually walked out on this after an hour because I just couldn't take it anymore. I can't believe this movie was actually a hit.

Graham,
Neither can I. My girlfriend and I saw this and were annoyed that we blew almost $20.00 on this. Only people really enjoying it were two black girls in the row behind us. They were getting something we weren't
As for the best, I've forgotten what I've seen. I guess that's saying something. Now that I'm living in Maryland, I do miss the Angelica in New York. All the play down here are things like "Training Day."
Actually, we did see "Vanilla Sky" recently and liked it very much. Would like to see the original. Have you seen it?
