Trippy Mash-Up from 1980
BITD, at my favourite disco, Charlie's, in Toronto, at the point in the night when the dj would start his "druggy/trippy/synthy" set (i.e.Tantra) he'd play what is now known as a "mash-up" of songs; these songs were recorded somehow one on top of the other so you'd have a really murky, spacy sound, as opposed to a medley-type tune. I don't know whether he'd recorded it himself (reel-to-reel) or it was on vinyl (bootleg).
I DO remember hearing instrumental bits of the following songs:
Magnifique-Magnifique
Follow Me- Amanda Lear
I Travel- Simple Minds
(maybe) Hot Leather- Passengers
(maybe) Anytime or place- Azoto
When this "mash-up" would start the energy on the floor would actually change from the "happy dance" to the SERIOUS dance; everyone seemed to get into the same head space...anyone remember hearing such a song back then??
we can fly...above the sky...
