"Rest In Peace Tony"
...And Thanks for all the Wonderful Music!
Main Ingredient Vocalist Tony Silvester Dies *
It has been brought to my attention that yet another soul music personality has passed away over the weekend. Panama-born Tony Silvester [not a misspelling—it is an I, not a Y in his name] of the group Main Ingredient has passed away at the age of 65.
The Main Ingredient is best known for the hits Everybody Plays The Fool and Happiness Is Just Around The Bend. They are best known for lead vocalist Cuba Gooding Sr., the father of award-winning actor Cuba Gooding Jr. of Jerry McGuire fame.
Tony Silvester was a founding member of the group way back in the sixties along with Luther Simmons Jr. and original lead vocalist Donald McPherson, who died in 1971 of leukemia. Cuba Gooding Sr. was McPherson’s replacement and led the group to a successful career in the seventies and eighties.
