Talking Mixmachine wont be happy about this

    This from Wayne Madsen:

November 27, 2006 -- Another Latin American nation, Ecuador, has joined the list of countries south of the border that have elected populist progressive leaders who reject the neo-mercantilism of the United States. Rafael Correa, a U.S.-trained economist and friend of Venezuela's Hugo Chavez, roundly defeated his conservative, Bush administration-backed banana plantation tycoon opponent, Alvaro Noboa. Correa received 57 percent of the vote to Noboa's 43 percent.
Correa's win follows the victory of progressive populist Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua.

Ecuador's Rafael Correa joins Hugo Chavez, Evo Morales, Daniel Ortega, Tabare Vazquez, and Raul Castro in anti-neo-mercantile Latin American alliance.
During the campaign, Noboa quoted the Bible and bragged about his close ties to the international bankers' class, including the Rockefeller family. It is clear that a commanding majority of the Ecuadorian people are wiser than a number of Americans who consistently fall for Bible-thumping hypocrites with fat bank accounts.

By the way Mix, Johan, I'm eagerly awaiting the results from France. That French hottie, Segolene Royal is spreading the right politics with sex appeal. Perhaps we are experiencing a worldwide renaissance. Liberalism...it does a planet good :icon_lol:

Paulie, I wouldn't be so confident of Ségolène. She already made some stupid mistakes and her opponent Sarkozy is very popular too. It will be a close race but I think she will not be crowned.

BTW, worldwide rise of liberalism???? Last week's elections in Holland was a victory for the rightwingers and in Belgium, our conservative party leads the polls for the general elections of May 2007. We are way ahead of the socialists and the liberals. So uptil now, it's more of a South-American thang and, rest assured, people will soon realise that those bigmouths won't fulfill their promises.

BTW, in Europe there's a big difference between Liberalism and Socialism. Liberals are at the right of the centre here.

So they're pretty good people :icon_mrgreen:

Keep posting, Paulie, KEEP POSTING :icon_mrgreen:

Too bad for Holland and Belgium. I suppose once the conservatives mess up these countries as they are prone to do, the socialist will come in and clean up there mess.

Ehmmm, Paulie, the Socialists were in power over the last eight years and they f*cked up so badly that the people here want a serious change of regime. The national deficit has doubled, unemployment has raised dramatically and almost every day newz reports that another socialist is jailed for fraud and corruption.

    Welcome back to planet earth

Re: Mixmachine wont be happy about this

The cold war is over, and the Soviets Empire that was encroaching in our back yard is long gone, so I don’t think America cares to much this time about a bunch of leftists sable rattleling across Latin America. (Unless the Chinese over step their welcome in this Hemisphere)

I hope this country re-examines it’s foreign aid allowances and concentrate more on our Allies, friends and here at home first, similar to what Chavez does with his oil money, give all this leftist populist a taste of their own medicine, and show them what happens when you piss off your rich uncle..

Latin Americans should be ashamed of the leaders they elect, either corrupt politicians at all levels or Leftists regurgitating failed policies of the past, they seem to take a step forward and quickly back track after the first bump in the road, is it any wonder why they are always mired in back breaking poverty.??? You can’t reach your goals/destination if you constantly change directions in mid stream.

I personally never cared much for any of this Free Trade agreements, to me all the benefits seem to lay south of the border with NAFTA, but supposedly smarter leader than me- Like Bush I , Clinton , Bush II and so many others talking Heads – claim Free Trade policies are beneficial to America and the world, so , I don’t know, the jury still out on this issue, me thinks.

So if South America and/or Ecuador wants to reject the agreements so be it, but I like to point out that -because of political instability (like we see today) once again Latin/South Americans lost an incredible opportunity during the last 20 years to better themselves by trading more with the USA, instead Asia and India –even though Latin America enjoys the geographical proximity advantage – jumped fast on this New Global Market concept and are making great strides in reducing poverty for their citizens and emerging as the economic power houses of the future, to the detriment of Latin America..

Latin America with their vast Human resources should have been the world center/Leaders in electronic manufacturing production ( taken over mainly by China) and outsourcing/Telemarketing industry (taken over mainly by India and other Asian countries) especially since Spanish is the second Language here in the USA, instead they are more content with blaming and bashing the US for all their ills while they allowed far away competitors to steal their opportunities handed over to them in a silver platter by the USA.

Who do they blame this time for that????

I didn't see socialism crumbling in the article or a lazy population per se. Perhaps they need to prioritize and incentivize specific academic pursuits that will benefit the local economies.
In a strange way, perhaps the fact that some people with degrees are getting welfare in places like France helps us. Why, because like many degreed Asians (Indians too) they would wind up here taking jobs. I work with quite a few.

the biggest surprise of the past elections here in Holland was the rise and the spectacular growth of SP; the Socialist Party! They are now the third biggest party in Holland and defeated the PVDA and VVD, the other major parties with a big percentage! So don't sell the skin of the bear before it is shot...

Holland at the moment is in confusion....neither right nor left are winning here...CDA, the rightwingers will have a difficult time forming a new cabinet....just finding the balance again I suppose...

Interesting take on Holland. So perhaps they are taking baby steps back to a little more socialism? Like everywhere else, it's about finding the right balance and socialism and capitalism.

Re: Mixmachine wont be happy about this

Maybe a little bit more on the Dutch situation.

CDA= Christian Democrats won the election (they lost a little bit although analists were predicting a major downfall)

PVDA=Socialists, lost a vast amount of seats.

VVD= Liberals, lost a vast amount of seats

SP=Communists (they're doctrine is Maoïstic) won a vast amount. They were insignificant during the past but people probably wanted to give it a try with 'em. Their leader Marijnissen is a populist.

Also a small victory for the little parties like the Christian Reformers, the Animal-defense party and the neo-cons of Geert Wilders and Marco Pastors.

And now the Dutch have a big problem, just like ATG states. They can't form a rightwing government and they can't form a leftwing government at this stage.

Just when Holland's economy was gearing up, unemployment was decreasing, thanks to the Christian Democrats and now they seem to put their money on a straight out communist. I'm very curious how they'll get out of this situation.

In Belgium, the socialists are the subject of numerous scandals: fraud, corruption, lying to the public on how our budget has a big surplus. The State-Audit has smashed them over the last days and calculated that Belgium has a big deficit. Now they keep silent coz' their politburo can't find a quick answer to the accusations.

Only 1 out of 3 Belgians wants to work. The other 2 are living on some sort of welfare. This is what socialism in Belgium has achieved. We are now in a situation that when you work you get an average wage of € 1100,00 while people that live on welfare can have a monthly income of € 1000,00. So why should they get up early in the morning for those few extra bucks.

Taxes are almost the highest in the world (55-60% of your income) and are only payed by workers (1 out of 3, like I said), companies (like me) and the big industry.

So, Mix is damn right with his definition on Socialism.

And Paulie, just some rhetorical questions:
-how much taxes do you pay?
-how much more do you want to pay to help your needy fellow-countrymen?
-how many people do you employ? (I have a staff of 35 people, well paid (x2-bonus for weekend/nightshifts), they have social insurance and a full-covered hospitalisation-insurance + benefits)
-do you own 1 or more houses? If so, are you prepared to low-rent them for homeless people?
-in case you work for a boss-are you willing to let your wage to be cut down to hire more co-workers?
-are you prepared to loose 1/3 of your wage and work more hours so the boss can hire foreigners?

Re: Mixmachine wont be happy about this

Before I answer the questions below Johan, here's a link for you to check out. According the this UN report Belgium not only ranks in the top ten worldwide (#3 in Europe) for quality of life, it also has a very good business climate. Are you bumming cause you can't add that Bentley Continental GTC to your stable of cars due to taxes? My heart cries out for ya

    http://www.diplobel.org/usa/NewsPubl...o/BM022004.pdf

And Paulie, just some rhetorical questions:

-how much taxes do you pay? Rough guess ~20-30% taxes depending on what is included.
-how much more do you want to pay to help your needy fellow-countrymen? Don't know?
-how many people do you employ? (I have a staff of 35 people, well paid (x2-bonus for weekend/nightshifts), they have social insurance and a full-covered hospitalisation-insurance + benefits) - I work for a medium sized company.
-do you own 1 or more houses? If so, are you prepared to low-rent them for homeless people? I own 1 house.
-in case you work for a boss-are you willing to let your wage to be cut down to hire more co-workers? Perhaps but this involves a fairly lengthy response since there would qualifiers attached.
-are you prepared to loose 1/3 of your wage and work more hours so the boss can hire foreigners? No.

For the sake of allowing you to get to some point, I'll these in the manner in which they were asked!

Re: Mixmachine wont be happy about this

Paulie, the link is published by the current Belgian government. Of course they won't put negative stuff in it!

And no I don't need a Bentley. I'm very satisfied with the cars I own now.

I'm pleased with the answers you gave on the questionnary. To me that prooves that you are not a commie, not a socialist but more of a caring person. And I really think that we don't differ that much on certain views.

I never supported ruthless capitalism. I only think that one has to work hard for one's daily bread and that lazy people should be kicked off welfare-programs. (We have lots of 'em in Belgium, like I already explained).

People who can not work should be taken care of. People who are struggling for life (financially) should be taken care of. I don't have a problem with that either.

What's the name again? Caring conservatism! That's the political wing I belong too!

And when you talk about liberalism and socialism and connect it to the Demos. Well those isms don't exist in the US!!!! You have extreme-right (Repubs) and moderate right (Demos). At least that's how European political analists describe US politics.

...I can only smile when I read your quote about your carSSS and your quote about 'caring capitalist'
...car(...SSSS) do you mean that you own more than 1?????

I suppose that it is One for Monsieur, One for Madame (or Mademoiselle) + One gas-guzzling 4x4 for that essential weekly shopping at Delhaize??? and surely One Italian Brand (maybe the One with the stallion-even more gas-guzzling) to go funshop in Knokke Lezoute at Gucci, Pucci and Fiorucci?? Are you BCBG or just Politically Incorrect??

Dear Videoskooter, tell me all about it!!! Now a brainless bimbo would call that careless capitalism, don't you think?? Would you consider yourself a 'caring' person' if you know that the ozone-layer of Mama Earth is being destroyed by the output of all these cars??? I never would dare to call you Politically Incorrect! Because you know you are if you own several carSSS:icon_eek:

mmmmh....I am not sure either if your update about Dutch politics is still correct but over here in Holland the SP stands for Socialist Party, not for communist or even Maoist Communism. That used to be like that about let's say 20 years ago. And Jan Marijnissen is definetely a true socialist, not a populist like that extravert queen of politics Pim Fortuyn...
I always shy away from a Belgian trying to explain Dutch politics...It's like a Frenchman who believes that Japanese cuisine is the same as Chinese....
but Videoskooter, peace and love thy neighbour!:icon_biggrin:
I never thought of discussing Dutch politics on a site dedicated to DISCO!! Now, say CHEESE!:icon_biggrin:

You see, that's the trouble with the leftists:icon_lol: They think they all the all-knowing-species :icon_lol: I don't have a 4x4, I don't shop @ Delhaize. I don't have an Italian car. Me, nor my wife wear UCCI-stuff and I absolutely hate Knokke-Le Zoute and we are certainly not BCBG.

If you would take the time of reading some more topics, you would know who I am, what I do and why I have more than 1 car. But no, posting like this is much eachier! :icon_mrgreen:

let's make one thing clear... Moi, me nor I am leftist at all. Nor do I pretend to know who you are or what you drive for carSSS. I just assume what type of Belgian citizen you are. As you give me the impression that you are....well,....a true Belgian!

Well, all of your assumptions were wrong, so you're not very good in profiling

Secondly, I'm 75% Italian so it's probably in my blood to like Italian design although I never had an Italian car and I will probably never buy one. I just like the design!

Thirdly, thank you for reading all my posts. I'll send you a signed photo, if you want 1

No thanks for the offer, Videoskooter, I prefer reading your posts! They reveal more about the man writing them...although you have not revealed what carSSS you own right now. I would like to see a pic of that, just to adjust my idea of your profile a bit more.

Well, you sure don't read all my posts! If you did you would have noticed this 1:

And to satisfy your lust here's some pics of our trailer (they are appearing in a Belgian magazine in a few weeks as illustrations accompanying an article on people that live on the road) No pics of our house (yeah we got a real house too) coz' that's strictly private!

I hope I do fit your profile. Do you have a job for me now???? :icon_mrgreen:

Back on topic though: when Holland's economy is fastly improving right now. Why oh why are many Dutch people betting on Marijnissen and not give more credit to the rightwing parties that are now governing??? That's a mystery to me. What do the lefties want? The destruction of the industry and it's move to eastern Europe? More people on welfare? More diaper-politics? Just asking

Boodi, it's a normal trailer, on photo, everything looks nicer and bigger, even MOI :icon_lol: And it's brand new (1 month), the old one was 17 years and that's pretty aged for a travel-trailer.

    Hey Mix,
I hope you at least are happy that the people spoke loudly and with a clear mandate.
I've heard that President Chavez won every state in Venezuala in his national landslide election!

It's not that difficult to win elections when you threaten opposers, take away their job and income or throw 'em into jail.

Latest news: Chavez is planning to change the law so he can stay in office longer and also wants to change the political spectrum by outlawing other parties than his own. His aim: one state, one party, a president for life. Does that ring a bell? :icon_mrgreen:

BTW, it always amazes me that 1 guy on this board is always stating: THE people have elected him so it's genuine. Where was that guy when Bush was elected twice????? Oh, yes, I forgot, W stole the election, Yugo didn't :icon_mrgreen:

Isn't this the way, Mao, Stalin, Honecker, Castro and their ilk started?????

Links Paul won't like coz' they are not in sync with his neo-communist propaganda:

Is that just wild rhetoric? I have not seen this reported anywhere other than here or anti-Chavez gloom and doom sites!

Yes, it does ring a bell. That was said even up to several months prior to this recent election. This is typical right wing talk. Our nazi rethugs said if the dems get elected, why it's the end and Al Qeida will run the government, etc.

BTW, it always amazes me that 1 guy on this board is always stating: THE people have elected him so it's genuine. Where was that guy when Bush was elected twice????? Oh, yes, I forgot, W stole the election, Yugo didn't :icon_mrgreen:
Perhaps your best shot but it still missed the mark. Despite Gore having most votes nationally and in Florida, the conservative supreme court in 2000 decided the recount process would "harm the presidency of george w bush."
Add to that, in 2004 as in 2000 there was widely reported voter fraud aimed at disenfranching the African-American vote.
So yeah, I agree the people did speak on both occassions. The repugs however told the people what Cheney to Senator Leahy, "go **** yourself." They are the bush crime family and they don't care about the rule of law or the constitution!

Isn't this the way, Mao, Stalin, Honecker, Castro and their ilk started?????
If that happens, you can hit with the "I told you so."

Links Paul won't like coz' they are not in sync with his neo-communist propaganda:

Read the links. The first link, by invitation..., discredits the the third, Coup in...
The second, well it's basically a hate Carter, Chavez, and I'm sure the usual list of people opposed to wing-nutty politics site. zzzzzzzzz's.

Ooh. I read that the President and his supporters at all levels are aware of the possibility of another overthrow attempt sponsored by the bush crime family and other like minded individuals.
    Find them and destroy them!
