Melba Moore. - Still putting out great tracks as well.

To clarify ..... this isn't based on chronology .... it's based on each lady's volume/quality of work and overall contributions to the disco scene .
So ..... You are about to crown the queen at the all-time Disco Queen pageant and in competiton are fifty female disco singers from the day ( you know who they are :icon_cool::icon_smile:) ... Now IF positions one and two are to go to Gloria Gaynor and Donna Summer ...... who then is right behind at 2nd runner up ??????

#3 - Grace Jones!
Amanda Lear
Madleen Kane. The "Amber" of our day.
I'd go with Grace Jones too. Although I don't like everything she put out, she was an interesting performer with the usual over the top production mixed with some punk imagery and a cool performance style. La Vie en Rose is such an astounding track & so different for the era.
I have to admit - I'm a much bigger fan of her post-Warm Leatherette albums though.
We forgot The Boss - Diana Ross.
Linda Clifford. I always saw her as being at the very cusp of the disco zeitgeist. (Pretentious, moi?)
...ya gotta beat the street......
Loleatta Holloway is a must for this list.
Carol Douglas a possibility? Pattie Brooks? Cheryl Lynn? This is too difficult.![]()

...ya gotta beat the street......
Remmy, I'm a bit confused about the rules here. I would pick France Joli too, although KDave mentioned her already.
According to Joel Whitburn's Hot Dance/Disco book, it might go something like this:
1. Donna Summer
2. Diana Ross
3. Grace Jones
4. Loleatta Holloway
5. Jocelyn Brown
6. Gloria Gaynor
7. Chaka Khan
8. Evelyn "Champagne" King
9. Claudja Barry
10. Linda Clifford
That's for their entire output, beyond the 70s. If your intention is to stick to the 70s only:
1. Donna Summer
2. Gloria Gaynor
3. Vicki Sue Robinson
4. Carol Douglas
5. Grace Jones
6. Diana Ross
honorable mentions: the Ritchie Family girls, the Sweethearts of Sigma, Silver Convention, Norma Jean Wright, and the Birds of Paris
My personal choice would be the mighty, mighty Rochelle Fleming from First Choice.
Make that feeling come again!
Svend
I always liked Stephanie Mills. Lets not forget Celi Bee, either. I alswys really enjoyed my Taana Gardner records, too. I have one called "Work that Body" and its great.
Hey, right now I m listening to a record called" Sandy Mercer
HEY LOVE, COME AND GET IT.
Its pretty cool, too.

The task at hand is not to come up with all 50 ladies competing on stage . :icon_razz::icon_razz::icon_razz:
The challenge here is in narrowing it down to ...... in greatness .... which female artist is next ???
Pick just one---ONE---ONE ....:icon_surprised: :icon_razz: :icon_surprised:
that is the challenge for which prizes will be awarded![]()

My choice is easily Marky's woman, Miss Diana Ross.
Find them and destroy them!
Vicki Sue Robinson. She was always consistenly good, never strayed from dance music, and had the infectious energy and vocal talent to keep the dancefloor happy.

What an interesting scattering of candidates . They can't ALL be #3 !! :icon_rolleyes::icon_rolleyes:
.....Unless ... once we get past Donna and Gloria ..... it's a fifty way tie for next in line !!!! :icon_lol::icon_lol:
