Hi-NRG Chart, 13 Aug 1988
tahnkyou for posting that chart - much appreciated![]()
The track I'm most curious about is #21 - Wendy "Over You". I've checked my reference books and it seems to be the one and only release on this "Chartflow-UK" label. Strangely, it was released in May '88 - 3 months prior to this chart. Anyone know the track?
Awesome. Thank you for posting.
Wow, SAW/PWL really were dominating the Hi-NRG chart at the time. It looks like they produced or remiced almost half the tracks on there!
I was curious bout the Wendy track too. I've never heard of that one.
I really want to find this record now! Looking on the web, the only place I can see it mentioned is DJRhythm's bpm directory. Doesn't even appear to be on sale at Gemm / MusicStack.
If it's anything like the other records on this chart, it could be right up my street!
There's a copy for sale on the Yahoo Japan Auction site:
Yahoo!¥ª¡¼¥¯¥·¥ç¥ó - ¢áU.K.¥¤¥±¥Î¥ê NICE HI-NRG¢áOVER YOU¡êWENDY¢á
But there's a catch, the seller doesn't ship internationally so you'll have to know someone in Japan to bid for you.
Thanks for that. Nice to see what it looks like. I could spend hours looking at the pictures on Yahoo Auctions Japan but it's so frustrating only being able to window shop!
I have 2 copies of the Wendy track. Very good hi-nrg, although not very popular. Around 132 bpm. Nice hook.
"Make me believe in you....show me that love can be true...."
WOW! Thanks again 'poplives'
these charts are such a blast from the past!
this one shows how SAW ruled the dance scene, so many songs there that they either produced or were now remixing (Pete Hammond......)
Some of the songs (original, not remix) like "I Cry for You" were released way before '88, used to love that track!!!!
There's even some house and acid in this chart...
The only track I'm not familiar with is 'There she goes' - 'Step by Step', has anyone got some info????
Masterpiece, you should have seen it - That rainbow in the moonglow. Masterpiece, you've got to live it - That new dawn tomorrow!
The Step By Step song is actually another PWL track, produced by Daize Washbourn & Mike Duffy for PWL. It's not amazing but it's pretty cute. It sounds a little clunkier than most of the other PWL hits of the time. The melody reminds me a little of Mike & The Mechanics "Silent Running."

There she is at number 2! 1987 or 88 was when I first fell for Kylie. I've been mad about her ever since.![]()
