    Hi everyone,

Don't you all think the record-companies are letting opportunities go not releasing any disco on dvd?

Even Saturday Night Fever isn't released on a DVD yet, or Thank God it's Friday, not to mention lot's of concerts by KC, Barry White, the Jacksons, just name them all, the only one's who dared the jump to DVD are Earth, Wind & Fire, & Donna Summer.

What about compilations! Isn't there enough material there to release hundreds of DVD's from Soul Train or American Bandstand, or the German Musikladen, the Dutch Toppop, the British Top of the Pops, so anyone who agrees with me let it out!

In addition to Donna and EWF there's the wonderful DALIDA ETERNELLE dvd out now, plus a so-so BEST OF BONEY M. Of feature films, the brilliant LAST DAYS OF DISCO is out, as is FOREVER FEVER / THAT'S THE WAY I LIKE IT, and should someone want it there's the boring 54 of course. Saturday Night Fever will no doubt be appearing sooner or later, but I wouldn't bet on NOCTURNA or TGIF.

As far as I have heard there are two DVD's which are also recommendable "The Temptations" a story about the group with a fantastic clip of the famous "Papa was a rolling stone" and the Jacksons mini-serie should be out too on DVD.

But I'm waiting for beautiful compilations of great disco-songs withe their performing act or video-clip........

Just a comment on Soul Train. They haven't EVEN bothered releasing episodes or compilations of that show on VHS. They had done so in Japan at one stage but that was it. The only way to get a hold of Soul Train is on illegal bootleg videos. I've been on the Soul Train site a few times and in the interactive section where people post there comments I've seen NUMOROUS requests for early Soul Train episodes to be on DVD or VHS, so one day they'll have to release the early ones on video or DVD. I reckon Don Cornelius can make a huge profit out of marketing his early episodes, it's a shame Soul Train has hardley bothered to release anything on DVD and VHS or even re-play their classic episodes.

Unbelievable, I just read that Anchor Bay has announced they are releasing "Can't Stop The Music" on DVD with a tentative release date of April 2, 2002. A few weeks back, AMC broadcasted the movie. It was worst than I remembered.

I can't imagine how CSTM could've been worse on any level. Forget Ed Wood, this is the real benchmark for bad movies. For example, after watching Dungeons & Dragons:

B: "Oh Gawd, that sucked hard!!"

L: "That's the worst movie I've seen this year. That was even worse than 'Battlefield Earth'."

B: "Ah, but was it worse than 'Can't Stop The Music'?"

L: "No, I guess it wasn't that bad. At least some of the special effects were okay."

Hilarious, Graham! What I want to know is who told Nancy Walker (some of you might remember her as Rhoda Morgenstern's mother, Ida) she could direct and what was Allan Carr thinking???

What's worst is that AMC (American Movie Classics - a cable network) kept calling CSTM a "camp" classic. I hate that when somebody tries to pass off a bad movie as "campy". Campy is Joan Crawford in "Strait Jacket," which is suppose to be coming out on DVD on March 12, 2002.

    Steffen,

This DVD looks nice, but a major point for Americans is that it more than likely will not play on our DVD players because it's a European encoding. Unless of course one has the original Apex or other multi-systems that can handle it.
