Every Friday night at 235Live is NuNorthern Soul.
Bringing sounds together from across the soul spectrum and presenting them in a welcoming atmosphere is the philosophy behind this weekly soiree in the venue within Manchester235, the new city-centre casino.

Last week we caught a glimpse of soul music’s future courtesy of Maddslinky, now we get a blast from its past thanks to Northern Soul original Phil Saxe.

As one of the DJs at Manchester’s truly legendary nightclub, the Twisted Wheel, Phil sought out the rarest soul records to fuel the obsessive dancers. Since then Phil has forged an enviable career in the music business where he has helped many bands on their way to stardom, including being the first man who tried to tame The Happy Mondays. He’ll be dusting off the 45s and bringing genuine Northern Soul classics to the club in the casino, a welcome echo of the Wigan Casino.
