Swing beat is the love inside me
growing strong and I'm holding on

to be living in the heart of you

me loving you

it's ecstasy
it keeps me growing

Yetta,
It's "Sweet & Deep" by Johnny Bristol with Linda Evans (not the "Dynasty" actress!!!)
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."

Hey Barry,
Why thanks for the compliment. :D
"Sweet & Deep" is on Bristol's "Free To Be Me" LP on Handshake from 1981. "Take Me Down" and "Love No Longer Has A Hold On Me" and other goodies are on this LP. You must have this, don'cha????![]()
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
hey marky,
no i don't have that lp. but i have the two 12"s, yes, even the rare uk pressing of "take me down" with an incredible break that's not on the lp. i was told that this 12" used to sell for BIG bucks in its heyday (it was also a biggie at the saint, and many of the morning music/sleaze anthems of the saint used to be sold for huge amounts back in the day.)
where did i finally find my copy? at the community thrift store on valencia.
how much did i pay? hmmm. was it $1? or $.50? i was too delirious to remember.
(^_^)

It's interesting to note that three of Johnny Bristol's songs were big sleaze hits.
"Take Me Down"
"Love No Longer Has A Hold On Me"
"Hang On In There Baby"
Oh, my heart. Some prick (yeah, I said PRICK!) stole mine. I could kill. You are talking about the version on the Ariola/Hansa import label, right!Originally Written by sfbeary

Barry,
I found a 1982 Handshake Records sampler that has an extended version of the Johnny Bristol "Sweet & Deep" at 7:00, so there was a long version. I'd forgotten about this.
The sampler also has Ronnie Jones/Claudja Barry "The Two Of Us" (8:24); Debra DeJean "You've Really Got A Hold On Me" (6:51) and Amii Stewart "Calling For Your Love" (6:56).
Now, if only I could hear the extended version of "Take Me Down" which I DON'T HAVE!!!!![]()
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
nicknack,
yes, that import 12" is the version i mean. if someone stole that, you have my condolences. may that person rot in HELL! there is no punishment severe enough for those who steal rare records. of course, there have been many times in my life when i could've done it, but that would be *E*V*I*L*, and karma can be a bitch! nicknack, if it will make you feel any better, i can put it on a cd-r for you.
marky,
phew! it just so happens that i also have that sampler (another $1 purchase i believe) and i bet i'm holding onto it for that very track! i'll play it on tomorrow. as for the extended "take me down," remind me and i'll add it to your growing list of cd-r requests!
yours in sleaziness,
barry
