The Flirts were Debby, Christy & Christina. They were the brainchild of Bobby Orlando.

I remember seeing one in 1984 - I think the song was called
Danger? Dangerous? but that was the year...it was considered new and that is all that I remember from this group.

    Flirts

The Flirts seemed to be all kinds of women during there recording period...Rumour has it that quite a few of them were (ex) girlfriends of Bobby-O who were in search of fame and fortune...
Apart from the official video they did quite a few tv-shows here in europe, i have 5 mpg videos of them now (Passion, Helpless, Dancing Madly Backwards, New Toy and Jukebox).
Contact me if you are interested....

Bobby O is on Friendster....ha ha ha

Also, there is a great bio about him at these sites:

    http://www.globaldarkness.com/articl...rlando_bio.htm

    http://www.discotrax.de/bobby_o.asp?...ck&sel_bo=true

He was notoriously homophobic...and we all know what that usually means. But I have heard that he slept with a lot of the women he worked with, including members of the Flirts and Roni Griffith. I doubt that those rumours are true. They were probably started by him.

Its interesting that u say he was homophobic as the Pet shop Boys weren't too taken with him apparently.

The Flirts metamorphosed into Andrea and the Hot Mynx (sp) at some point.

Talk about reviving an almost two year old post :-)

Some members of the Flirts also went on to become Heartbreak USA. I'll have to dig up the 12", but I keep thinking it had "Prep" or "Preppy" in the title.

    ...runs and checks record...

Okay, the label is Preppy Records and the song is "Impulse" from 1985. Two of the girls are in the B/W photo on the cover.

    The Flirts

I am very familiar with the Flirts as I reside in Miami, Florida and have seen them perform live many times. The original group consisted of Andrea (who I actually met & talked to several times) and two other girls. The other two were frequently replaced with other singers. Right after "Jukebox (Don't Put Another Dime)" they were to release another song called "He can't love you better than I do" which was my favorite of the bunch. However, Andrea began to have disagreements with Bobby O's manager (Joe L) and so that was that for the original group. Unfortunately, the record was never released. Bobby O decided to quickly resurrect the Flirts as "Danger" was about to be released. Christina Cricone (lead singer on "Take A Chance On Me" by Waterfront Home) was now part of the newly formed Flirts along with two other studio singers. Christina was a riot! She was hilarious and a real entertainer. I think I saw them 4 or 5 more times, but apart from Christina, the other two singers were never the same. The last time I saw them was at the now defunct "On The Waterfront" in Miami. Christina was gone. She was replaced by a girl named Jeri and she was the new alleged lead singer. I heard her wale the off-key lyrics to Helpless and You and Me - eeecckkk!!! That was the last time I ever saw them or even heard of them performing together.

Well, the original Flirts were Andrea (lead singer Passion, Jukebox etc), Rebecca (Calling All Boys) and Holy (think she did most of On The Beach). The first one to go was Holy. I did see them perform in Miami several times, last was with a live band at a place called Forrest. That night they performed most of the material from the second album. They did Teenage Warewolf, and a few cuts from the second album. At that point those songs sounded much in line with the 10 Cents A Dance album. Think thats when the other girls started to come in, they rerecorded and remixed the album with the new girls. Rebecca, Holy and I spoke for a while and they really had no idea when the release date would be for the second album. Then, maybe six months later, the Flirts performed at the club Waterfront, and all 3 original girls were gone, including the girl that replaced Holy (the red head). It was not the same, the songs were good but the magic of the original Flirts was gone.

I have always loved THE FLIRTS - PASSION is my favourite track and I listen to it quite often - Thir music is hard to find in the UK but I have managed to get most of the 12" singles on import.

Of course you like 'em, you're the producer! Just kidding, but can I recommand the following disque to you. Since you're living in France and this Belgian output was distributed over there, maybe you can find this beauty somewhere somehow:

    3 CD set

I recently bought this off ebay. Not a bad intro to The Flirts. Has all the songs from the 1992 album.

Does anyone have any good quality photos/album covers of them? As I would like to make my own artwork for the set, as the original cover sucks!
