Underground Hit [Level 5]
I wanna start doing some mixes for personal use and just for fun but I don't have unfortuanetly any vinyl or DJ equipment.
I'm interested if anyone could suggest a good PC software program to make mixes and stuff. It would be great if I could download this program somewhere.

I've tried Mixman studio before I think (it even messed up my Winamp player :x ) , but I'll try the other programs out. Thanks anyway Nick. Have you tried any of these?

I've tried all of them but for only goofing around at home. I never took it far enough to actually 'work' with it. I didn't like a lot of the features that were offered and I felt they were missing some they needed. The pitch control I found the most annoying on all of them. Way to sensitive. I actually purchased PCDJ but that was when it was in it's earliest beginnings. I returned it after 30 days and demanded a refund. Too many bugs. Don't judge the programs by me as I can be severely biased. I'm a 'vinyl junkie' from way back who has made it as far as mixing CD's. Not much else. :lol:

I tried them all i think the best is atomixmp3 its a free download its easy and does everything for u count the beats and all

I have to agree ATOMIXMP3 is very easy to use, auto beat match, many features but not as complicated as pcdj.com or otsjuke.
I also use some spanish technology called deejaysystem.com this is about the simplest thing you can use, open 2 or 3 players and start mixing for free, no auto beat match here, just a neat pitch control. I love this one too.

I have a friend who uses Mixmeister for making mixes and gets professional results much easier than expected.
If you buy this record your life, will be better.

I tryed Atomix MP3, it's amazing but how can you monitor the other record sound level? You cannot check it out by headphone so you can mix without any preparation.

I too have tried them all, all but one was a disappointment, the one I love and still use (am planning to try it out live) is Traktor DJ v 1.02, I stress 1.02. before did not have the features and after got to tricky for its own good.
Try it, the interface is excellent and you don't need a mensa IQ or a degree in rocket science :-) to work it out
the only whacky thing (and they all do it) is any slow track with 80 to 100 or so bpm, it seems to pick it up and register double that which can get annoying, if you stick to the thumpin' beats of Hi-nrg etc, it is magic

The only problem I've experienced is that when I load a new song onto the A or B deck, the song that's playing on the other deck gets interrupted temporarily. It's like the CPU gets really busy trying to figure out the BPM count on the song I'm loading and causes the other song to choke temporarily. It's very annoying, but I suspect it's caused because my 2-year-old laptop is not well suited for it.
So I can't use it for real-time mixing, but for recording mixes it works just fine -- the interruptions are not recorded!
I've tried their Traktor DJ Pro and it doesn't have the interruption problems, but it's not as nice interface-wise. :-?

Yoy have all made great sugestions. However, if you are looking for superb results one must invest more time and effort and not use software that does it "All" for you. These programs do not give you the felxibility. I find that using a non linear editor such as Ulead Media Studio is the way to go. The extra effort is well worth the results.

There have been so many viewes to this topic, I thought I would add my essential list of software for those who have way too much time on their hands and want to control every aspect of the final product (down to a 30th of a second). This is not for those who plan to DJ live using software. I did not provide URL's as they are easily found by searching.
1) Steinberg Clean (I think it's now part of Pinnacle Systems).
2) Sound Forge Studio XP 6.0 (Full Version) - Sonicfoundry
3) Ulead Media Studio Pro (or equivilent non linear editor)
4) Sound Forge Media Studio (convert WAV2MP3 or any other in batches)
