The French TV5 did it again with their top rated Bonne Année spactacular. This year the show was hostessed by none other than Amanda Lear – now who still says disco is dead? Amanda introduced and interviewed international quest stars Jennifer Lopez, Cher and Mariah Carey who lipsynched thru their usual stuff – Mariah did an okay ”Last Night a DJ Saved My Life”. French big names Zazie, Carlos, Etienne Daho etc. did their big pop dance hits, Sheila performed ”Spacer” and even Regine was there to blast a disco ”Azzurro”. There was a nice Dalida tribute, too, with a clip of ”Laissez-Moi Danser” from the ”Revolution” remix cd. And to top everything off Amanda herself sang – not lipsynched – her fabulous version of the classic ”Love Boat” from her new ”Heart” cd to a standing ovation, accompanied by boys dressed naturally as sailors. Looking ooh la la, she then joined the grande finale with the Moulin Rouge showgirls, to a fully orchestrated and very disco ”Feerie”. Fcuk the MTV Music Awards, trust the French to do it the way it should be done!

Lopez, Cher and Carey in the same place? With all that ego and mental illness on one stage, was there any room for Amanda?

Glad to hear that the yummy Sheila is still around (no B. Devotion?) and glad to hear that Regine is still above ground. As for Regine, despite her bad reputation, I've met her a couple of times in NYC and found her very pleasant.

@#$% the MTV Awards, and @#$% cable in general, I wish I had satellite TV so I could enjoy some of these programs.

I also saw it and AMANDA LEAR is since 2

Months the third time on TV5. I also saw

Cerrone talking about the new Remix-Album

made by Bob Sinclair. SHEILA was fabulous

but without her B.Devotion(they were in the

70ies sometimes solo as TRINITA"High Feeling")...she still looks very fresh,

    without too much HollywoodSurgery. Amanda

was also exciting, because she was a little

bit respectless to Mariah Carey...and believe

me, AMANDA and SHEILA are big big in France.

You know that song by ALCAZAR"Crying At The

Discotheque", which became one of the most

    played HouseTrax all over Europe...there´s

    a sample from Sheila´s smooth & unbelievable

    beautiful "Spacer"...

Boodikka, reading your comment about Cher, Jennifer, Mariah and MENTAL ILLNESS made me laugh aloud. I wish you had seen Mariah Carey's face as she was trying in vain to plug her GLITTER movie disaster. But Amanda, she was just great and she never missed a beat, just as Sirius put it.

    - Oh how I wish I had gaught that Cerrone program!

For Amanda try Amazon.fr the French branch, you can use your normal password. The cd has only just come out. Amazon.fr has a great selection of dvds as well - Christopher Gans's incredible "Brotherhood od the Wolves" is out there already.
