Hi-This Is Sirius! I remember that sleazy
song well. It was released 1982 & produced
by Prince. Also look for the 12"Drive Me
Wild".

Oh my god! I didn´t know that! I´m not watching comedies too much.
Didn't know if everybody here knew this or not...but were you aware that Vanity of Vanity 6 was a GUY?????
I was watching a show on HBO about porn conventions when they cut away to a guy that was ranting and raving and going on a bout this porn star. He said, "I don't care....this chick is HOT! man! I mean TOTALLY hot." Then there were a few more guys going on and on as well. Then they cut away to the girl who they were talking about, and I heard one guy say, "C'mon Vanity! Take it off." By golly, it WAS Vanity, and she's doing porn now. The other guys started prompting her as well, so she undid the tie on her robe, and quickly flashed the camera. I'll be DAMNED if she didn't have a penis and testes! I was totally shocked, as I had worked in gay bars for YEARS and always thought I could tell a drag queen from a mile off. But, this was a total shocker for me!
Prince always had a reputation of bedding the chicks who's records he produced. What's this say about him? (Like it's a suprise!)
I guess she doesn't really need that 7" inches or more...she's got her own!!!!!
I'm not sure who you saw on that HBO show, but according to the IMDB, Vanity is Denise Matthews who is a born again Christian and very involved in Christian ministries.
See link below
Vanity (I) - Biography
*****Sometimes when porn "stars" think they resemble someone of notoriety ... they'll cash in on to that resemblance by assuming a similar name . Dragsters especially do this ....
Maybe you saw a male "Vanity" wannabe .... ???

Well, there is a possibility that this was a Vanity Look-Alike, but it sure looked like the real vanity to me. It even sounded like her. Tho, don't you think if this were a knock-off of a real religious Vanity, that she would be appaled enough as to take this imposter to court for using her name?? It would be one thing for this person to call herself Deneise Richards, but wouldn't you think that the name Vanity has some sort of copyright?
I suppose everyone has the right to change their mind, but with song titles and content like "Nasty Girl" and a Motown song I think she sung..."You Made A Pretty Mess of My Dress", I think she had her sexuality hanging out there anyway...pun intended.
I worked in a bar that had drag shows back in the mid 80's, and one of the performers, Tracy Adams, was a DEAD RINGER for Elizabeth Taylor. She used to lip sync to a lot of classic Aretha Franklin and Gladys Knight material.
Just the mere thought of seeing Elizabeth Taylor singing "Freeway Of Love" with her "Midnight Train" hangin' out makes my head ache!!!!!!
True, but she didn't really write any of those songs, did she? "Nasty Girl" is a Prince song through and through. Vanity 6 was simply a front for his ideas.
The Wikipedia entry on her has this interesting quote:
When I came to the Lord Jesus Christ, I threw out about 1,000 tapes of mine—every interview, every tape, every video. Everything.
- Denise Matthews-Smith in 1995, quoted in Totally Awesome 80's by Matthew Rettenmund, p. 57
Vanity is all woman.
Nasty Girls was also a part of the "Girl 6" soundtrack.
Now a question. Is she preaching now about the evils of sex?
Find them and destroy them!
For anyone who owns the maxi single of nasty girl, a close look at the picture leaves not much doubt about her sex.
Yes I hear you say that "the meat" could have been surgically taken out and given away for making sausages but her thong on the picture is stucked too deep "in the pulley" for it to be a fake.
Sometimes I'm really amazed about some posts here.
Denise is an evangelist for Pure Hearts Ministries and has broken with her past as Vanity, although she never denies that part of her life. She became a Born Again Christian after a serious illness that almost cost her life.
welcome to denisematthews.com
You can contact her: denise@denisematthews.com
If you are reluctant, but please don't be, I'll forward your question to her.
My apologies to Denise,
I should have known that her contact with Prince has changed her life for the best.
Bahhh! She's happy isn't she?
What about the other two?
Are they into something else?
Baby, take me

Well, I took you up on it Johan. I went to her site and read her bio. Given what she wrote, I emailed her and wished her all the best. I decided not to ask her about the evils of sex :icon_cool:
Find them and destroy them!
One thing that shocked me was when I viewed the video for (You Made A Pretty Mess of My Dress) was how flat chested she was, really flat.:icon_confused:
..I think I have read somewhere that neither of her parents were from Silicon Valley...

I don't mean to keep this thing going about Vanity. But, you mentioned that you should look at the cover of the lp to see that her attire was quite skintight.
Well, haven't you heard of airbrushing? You think all those women on lp covers are just naturally beautiful without a wrinkle or flaw one? C'mon!!!!!
If the record department has taken the time to hire and market these people, then they are going to make them appeal to a broad/mass market. Do you honestly think they would put a photo on the cover of a woman with a bulge in her shorts? Probably not, unless they decided to appeal to a market of trannies and the people who love them. I DON"T think there's much of a market for that.
It was just a short clip on HBO, and after reading about her being a born again Christian I seriously doubt she has slipped into the porno business. This was a fun thread while it lasted, tho!
Nope, Vanity didn't actually write "Nasty Girl" or any of the other songs she's credited with on their album. All of those songs were actually written by Prince alone except for the ones that credit a co-writer like Terry Lewis or Jesse Johnson of The Time. Prince probably thought it was a cool idea to credit the girls in the group with the songs rather than putting his name on the project at all.
I'd also read that Prince wanted to call the group "The Hookers" and have Vanity use the stage name Vagina, both of which she refused. I don't know if that's true, but I wouldn't put it past him.
But yeah, regardless of what the credits say, you don't have to hear much of the Vanity 6 album to figure out that it's really a Prince record through and through.
Almost all the records from that period were made by 1 band: Prince + The Time. Ol' Nelson had written so many stuff and recorded so many jams that he hardly could release all of it under the Prince moniker.
Of course...a few years later the fights broke out on the subject of who has written what and who's song/idea it all was. Great example is the Time album "Pandemonium" which features the group playing songs that were already available on bootlegs years before and then were sung by the purple man.
Some of those early jams/prototypes/demos were also officially released on the "Crystal Ball" CD-set.
And, Graham, Vanity 6 was originally called Vagina 6 but Warner Brothers didn't like that name....
I can't trick you in! The vagina story is a marketing stunt. Prince knew very well that WB would never accept that name for a leadsinger. His lyrics were already going very far BITD.
But I'm going to repeat something here that I've written before: Prince has a strange way to release songs. I give you 1 example: "We Can Funk" that is featured on the "Graffiti Bridge" soundtrack. It is done by George Clinton and it's a very weak track. Try to get a copy of the original version by Prince where it's a breathtaking organ led R&B masterpiece. I never understood why he didn't use this 1 for the OST.
But for the latest news on his purpleness' behaviour go to:
Prince Fans United
And read all about his affection for his fans. Prince, you must be ashamed!
Just a quote:
PRINCE FANS FIGHT BACK AGAINST ATTACKS
In an extraordinary, but not unfamiliar move, the rock legend Prince is using an army of lawyers to launch attacks on his own fans. Several of the largest web communities dedicated to the artist have received notices to cease and desist all use of photographs, images, lyrics, album covers and anything linked to Prince's likeness. It is our belief that these threats are not made in an attempt to enforce valid copyright as Prince alleges in his threats, rather we believe they are attempts to stifle all critical commentary about Prince. We strongly believe that such actions are in violation of the freedom of speech and should not be allowed. Prince claims that fansites are not allowed to present any artwork with Prince's likeness, to the extreme that he has demanded removal of fan's own photographs of their Prince inspired tattoos and their vehicles displaying Prince inspired license plates. Prince's representatives have requested that the fansites provide them with "substantive details of the means by which you [the fansites] propose to compensate our clients [Paisley Park Enterprises, NPG Records and Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG)] for damages..."
