I've unearthed an actual tape I made in June, 1982 that I titled "Let's Groove". All this talk about 1982 led me to my vaults--so I took it with me to work. Not a lot of mysterious titles here....BUT some good ones!!!
Side A:
1) LET'S GROOVE - Earth, Wind & Fire
2) WATCH OUT - Brandi Wells
3) EVERYBODY KNOWS - Lipps Inc.
4) WHY YOU WANNA TRY ME - The Commodores
5) SOMETHING ABOUT YOU - Angela Bofill
6) TAKE IT TO THE TOP - Kool & The Gang
7) WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND - Brandi Wells

THE GENIE - Patti Austin
9) ARE YOU LOVIN' SOMEBODY - Debra Dejean
10) THE ONE/THE ONE AFTER - Lipps Inc.
Side B:
1) GET DOWN ON IT - Kool & The Gang
2) WHAT'S THAT YOU'RE DOING - Paul McCartney & Stevie Wonder (Anyone remember this little slice of funk from McCartney's "Tug Of War" LP? I recall Gene Gordon (porn star Will Seagers from that Gage Bros. movie-L.A. Tool & Die) playing this one Saturday afternoon at his guest gig at Aloha Records)
3) MIRROR, MIRROR - Miss Ross
4) I'M GONNA GET YOUR LOVE - Amii Stewart (the Handshake era...er... year)
5) HOLD ME DOWN - Lipps Inc.
6) LET IT RIDE - Linda Clifford
7) KEEP ON TAKING ME HIGHER - The Commodores

I'M YOUR JEANIE - Jeanie Tracy
9) DO YOU LOVE ME - Patti Austin
Good memories from a great era in music. I read sfbeary's astute speculation on why music from this era still sounds so fresh--not a lot of overexposure. (I'm NOT talking about the tracks on this tape--mostly mainstream)--BUT mainstream radio didn't play the hell out of a lot of the R&B dance music from this time, so it still seems so special. Lotsa unearthed gems to still be found.
