    Tavares "Best of"?

I'm thinking about buying a Tavares "Best of"-compilation.

Now the problem is that there a quite a few different ones available on amazon and they don't show track times. I'm mainly looking for "Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel" and "Don't Take Away The Music" in their full length versions and in decent sound quality.

Maybe someone here already purchased one of these cds and can make a recommendation?

While I don't have any of the CDs you are looking at, the original vinyl times of Tavares' biggest hits would be:

Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel 6:32
It Only Takes A Minute 3:59
Don't Take Away the Music 6:18

According to iTunes The Tavares Anthology matches up timewise with the above so that may be the disc to get.

    Hi,

Go to allmusic.com and you can check out the timings of each cd.

If you are not a member, you can join for free.

When you get to the Tavares page, click on the tab Discography, and then Compilations. There are a couple dozen greatest hits cd's and there are a few with the extended versions you are seeking.

There's a Capitol Gold Greatest Hits (something like that) that has the long versions of their disco hits--"It Only Takes A Minute" was not extended it seems.

I bought The Tavares Anthology a couple of years ago ,it has 31 tracks "Heaven'" is the long mix and i'm pretty sure "Don't take away" is as well.

The 2 disc Tavares Anthology is great as it also has some of their less successful early 80s stuff as well as the classic 70s hits. The Taste Of Honey anthology is also like this. It surprises me how with many artists their 80s stuff is harder to find on CD than the 70s stuff quite often.:icon_neutral:

I'd reccommend the Capital/Right Stuff Anthology from 2004 as there are many rare Lp tracks from their near decade long stint at Capital. Also reccommended are A life time with Tavares on Capital/Emi from 1998 and Solid Gold the best of on Capital from 1993 which has a rare track on it.

Whatever you buy do not buy any Tavares on Unidisc. They are re-recordings from the 1990's.
