I was looking at producer credits on some of my disco albums and only noticed one female producer's name: Gloria Jones is listed as a producer on the Gonzalez album "Haven't Stopped Dancing". Anyone know of any others? I'm referring only to disco music from, let's say the late 70s to the mid 80s. I know there's lots of female producers now.
I remember only Patti Unwin ( Dee D.Jackson's first album )
Sylvia Robinson, who was famous as the singer Sylvia of Pillow Talk fame, was a big time producer.
She did everything from Shirley and Company (Shame, Shame, Shame),The Whatnauts, The Rimshots,......
And she and her husband founded Sugarhill Records and produced Rapper's Delight and Grand Master Flash among many others.

you'd still be waiting for me at the airport

I think both, Sharon Redd and Joyce Sims produced, at least, the material they released.

"The Problem is....Choice."
The same with Cheryl Lynn who started producing or co-producing her own material, beginning with her 5th album 'Preppie'. She had always wrote or co-wrote songs on her albums but after Luther Vandross produced her 4th album 'Instant Love' it seemed like she was inspired by him to produce her own stuff.
PATRICE RUSHEN and TEENA MARIE did produce their own material.
Plus DONNA SUMMER produced one track off the BAD GIRLS album and she also co-produced 2 unreleased disco albums : one for British model TWIGGY and another for her sisters' group SUNSHINE.

Angela Winbush, Angela Bofill, Valerie Simpson, Diana Ross & Sister Sledge have all produced their own &/or other artists' records.
...ya gotta beat the street......
Phyllis Hyman did a few.
GERALDINE HUNT also wrote and produced her stuff circa CAN'T FAKE THE FEELING. She also went on to produce her daughter's group CHERI with their monster hit MURPHY'S LAW.

Another one to add..
Freida Nerangis who, along with Britt Britton produced Crown Heights Affair, Unyque and Made In U.S.A. Not sure if there are others, but those are the only three I'm familiar with.. I had to add her name, since I just got the Made in U.S.A. LP over the weekend and have really been enjoying it..![]()
