Thanks to Jussi, I have just received a treasure trove of new-to-me disco... 5 MDs worth! Still going through them, but so far the highlights are...

Amant: If There's Love -- heard a lot about this, and it has lived up to my expectations

Phylicia Allen: Josephine Superstar -- delightful concept LP from the Queen of camp, Jacques Morali

Ritchie Family: two tracks from the "Barbichette" soundtrack -- even campier! Sounds like Patrick Juvet is singing one of them...

Alec R. Costandinos: Americana -- I actually quite like this much-derided LP. Okay, it's not "How Much, How Much I Love You", but it's still better than the muddled mess that is "The Hunchback Of Notre Dame".

Let's see...today I've got nothing disco per se, but lots of time on my hands, so...

1). Best of Holly Cole (Canadian jazzy chanteuse)

2) Tempermental - Everything But The Girl (I liked them more when they were cool & jazzy)

3) The Nightfly - Donald Fagen (Steely Dan)

solo LP that's a big fave of mine; every cut is a gem.

4). Felicity Soundtrack - Neil Finn, Air French Band, Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel (It was a cheap promo)

5) Deep In The Night - Etta James (from 1978) ("Only Women Bleed", "Piece Of My Heart", "Take It To The Limit")

6) The Dude - Quincy Jones with Patti Austin & James Ingram (A classic!!!)

I don't think that I can hold the note in half the time that Bill did(about 30 seconds). I can't even sing. For some reason, I was always unable to get the singer of "Lovely Day". Thanks for the info.

Well, Im not originalbigm, but I do have this one, so...

Space Project was a project by Québec producers Domenic Sciscente and Michel Daigle, who also brought us the lovely Alma Faye Brooks (not to mention loads of Québec pop). It was released in Canada on RCA with the catalogue number KKL1-0269. I think it *might* have been released in the USA under the title "Disco From Another Galaxy". There are four tracks on the LP, each around 8 minutes long. Side one has Conquest Of The Stars and Beyond Orion, side two has Mission To Lyra and Lady Capella. An edit of the title track appeared on a few Canadian K-Tel compilations in the 70s.

The overall sound is like the title track -- John Williams-esque overtures with rather dated synth effects. It still has a certain charm though.

One unfortunate thing about this LP is that some shops charge a fortune for it, because it was pressed on coloured (transparent yellow) vinyl. These arent less common than regular releases, in fact Ive never seen a copy on regular vinyl. However, some places work on the assumption that coloured vinyl=limited edition, and charge more accordingly.

I also have this one on 8-Track. In fact, thats how I originally discovered it. Ill get around to restoring the vinyl... uhhh, someday.

Update: I just noticed in your profile that you're in Montréal. It surprises me that you're having a hard time finding it, since in theory it would be more plentiful there than anywhere else. I got my vinyl copy through an online store somewhere in Saskatchewan, and I recently saw a sealed copy in a local store (unfortunately someone else was buying it).

Talking of SPACE PROJECT, is the similarily themed synth disco album by UNIVERSAL FORCE also from Canada? The sleeve does not give any indication. Universal Force's stuff is just what I'm certain they are spinning at the DISCO SPACESHIP as it flies in the air (courtesy to Mr. Graham Stuart I'm now hooked for life).

Sorry,RU Offended haven't just got back to my computer today but I see Graham gave you the information you asked for which worked out better since I don't have the LP but the 12" single.And in reference to coloured vinyl my 12" was pressed on clear blue vinyl.
