I'm a Jimmy Castor fan from way back i remember buying "Hey Leroy" as a kid, i think it was on the Phillips Records over here. I still have most of the Atlantic LPs & 7". The last time i played Jimmy Castor in a club was in the early 80's "Don't do that" on Cotillion, but these video's are gonna' make me dig them all out.

It's Just Begun was such a cool track. While the original 45 version (yes, there were two versions) sounded dirty and early 70s funk-psychedelia, the 72 album version sounded way ahead of its time. I especially love those screaming guitars in the outro section.

By the way, Its Just Begun not only was a hip hop anthem, it was also used in the film Flashdance. Too bad they didn't include it on the soundtrack. I had to way a few years before finding it on a CD (I first learned about the track in the late 80s).

(Sorry for the late bump, it is relevant) I just went to the Super Market and Its Just Begun popped up on my IPOD. Great song. Disco funk for sure. I would also say it had a lot of influence on very early hip hop. The street DJs would mix that in everywhere.
