    Yoko's HELL IN PARADISE

    *****

So what about Yoko Ono's HELL IN PARADISE ??

1985 was beyond the end of the run for my regular clubbing days ( I was after all an old man hitting 30 ! ) .... but when I caught wind of this I hunted it down and had to have it . Even liked it's sleeve design . Then strangely in the course of moving around ... this is one of the records that got left behind .... and Ive sorely missed .

I finally have now found another copy and am listening to it with my morning coffee. :D

It still sounds pretty good to me. Very aggressive ... almost angry ....sort of Nona Hendricks sounding . Makes me want to dance in a most non-twirling way . Nice upfront churning bassline ... heavy hitting drumming .
Nicely paced ... even at 6:25 it seems to end suddenly. ( plus the dub B side at 8:25 )

I was surprised when it didn't fair that well on the dance chart then ( my ears thought : #1 :???:)
    What happened ?
Is it simply not as good as I think ? Was it too throw back ? Did it just not fit in with the club music of 1985 ?

Remicks you're a sly puss even when you don't know it.

I'm looking at the sleeve for HELL IN PARADISE and who should be listed as background singer ?
    Yes yes Bernard Fowler ...
    but who else ?

    Nona Hendryx! :icon_surprised:
No wonder her sound came to mind ... I thought it was the gruffnes of the guitar /keyboard combo ...

There's this also ...... the remix engineeer is the same for both HELL IN PARADISE and Nona's DO WHAT YOU WANNA DO :
    John Luongo.

I'm surprised by the blank stares concerning this one .. ... no shared interest ?
If you don't know the record ..... I think it's worth checking out ..... it's got the trademark Yoko turkey calls and everything ...

Sorry, I don't know Hell In Paradise, but I do love Yoko Ono's: Walking On Thin Ice. Unusual for me as I do not like her one bit.
