How many of your choices made the Top 25 Disco Songs chart?

Bernie's new chart is on the web... How many of your loved 25 songs made spots in the Top 25? How well fared the others?

    Here's mine:

    3-"Le freak" (12th place)
    4-"Disco Inferno" (23th)
    5-"I feel love" (1st)
    6-"Souvenirs" (5th)

My song number one, "Let's groove", made 106th (so far, Blax, goes our lobby power ). Number two, "Love is gonna be on your side" by Firefly, didn't make the Top 500!
    My other choices:
    8 went 355th
    10 went 220th
    13 went 182th
    16 went 213th
    22 went 46
    23 went 370
    25 went 227

So 12 of 25 charted, but only 2 in the Top Ten and 4 in the Top 25 (this is starting to sound like a basketball game).
    How did you do?

I didn't do too badly. 17 out of 25 are in the top 500. 2 are in the top ten and 5 are in the top 25. A comparison of my top 5 shows that

    MY # 1 LOVE IN C MINOR = 13
    2 SOUVENIRS = 5
    3 COCOMOTION = 42
    4 DON'T LEAVE ME THIS WAY (THELMA H.) = 10
5 ASK ME - ECSTASY, PASSION & PAIN didn't even make the F$%#ing list

BTW --- GREAT WORK BERNIE! THANKS!!

Oh, it's statistics time, eh???!!!

Ok, twist my arm...I'll play--IF I MUST!!!

As usual, I did just ok...well 50+ per cent...

13 of my 25 made the list.

    1 in the Top 10
2 more in the Top 20
1 more in the Top 100
9 more in the Top 500

    To break it down:
    My #3 = the Chart's #1!!!!
    my #11 = #17
    my #2 = #19
    my #8 = #162
    my #9 = #183
    my #16 = #193
    my #23 = #245
    my #19 = #248
    my #10 = #266
    my #12 = #284
    my #21 = #381
    my #1 = #480 (poor Eddie!!!)

The following BRILLIANT records were left in the dust....
#4 GIVE IT TO ME BABY - Rick James (though "Superfreak did chart this time)
#5 THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH - Metropolis
    #6 EVOLUTION - Giorgio Moroder
#7 SAVE YOUR LOVE FOR ME - Space
#14 ALWAYS THERE - Side Effect (Bernie, you sorta hinted this song was gonna chart!!!)
#15 YOU CAN DO IT - Al Hudson & The Partners
    #17 MASTERPIECE - Gazebo
#18 CAN'T BE LOVE - DO IT TO ME ANYWAY - Peter Brown
#20 DON'T TAKE AWAY THE MUSIC - Tavares
#22 I GOT TO HAVE YOUR LOVE - Fantastic Four
#24 STARS IN YOUR EYES - Herbie Hancock
#25 WALK THE NIGHT - Skatt Brothers (hey, I quoted this song more than ANY OTHER, so I had to give it a spot on my list!!!)

If ya don't know these tunes...check em
    out!!!

Great job, Bernie!!! Thanks for the mention--I don't think I contributed very much compared to the others...AND I DO have a last name...BUT considering all the **** I talk...it was probably best you DIDN'T list it!!!!

Of my 23 "legitimate" votes, 18 appear in the list and these 5 do not:

The Real Thing - Brothers Johnson
What Am I Gonna Do With You? - Barry White
Under Your Spell - Phyllis Hyman (but at least her hit from the same album, "You Know How To Love Me", got on the chart)
Lady (You Bring Me Up) - The Commodores
You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine - Lou Rawls

I suppose the new top 500 list is pretty good, even if some of the songs aren't really disco. Of my votes, "This Time Baby" scored the highest at #17, followed by "I Want Your Love" by Chic at #29.

Oh, Zeca... are you serious???? NOT ONE OF YOUR SONGS made the list???? I have to see your list!!!

The list this time is pretty damn mainstream...almost like the...(dare I say it)... VH-l list that initially inspired our protest list!!!! Is that heresy??? Hey, it's the way people voted....the votes don't lie. Bush IS our President, right???

Who votes for "I Will Survive" and "YMCA" and "Ring My Bell" I wonder?????

Ah...Marky, whenever you mention the current White House occupant you touch a raw nerve. No, the votes don't lie. I don't believe Bernie has 5 judges here to appoint what some really want.
Oh Marky, leave it to you to get me worked up even more so considering what happened to Wellstone today

I can't remember what my list was exactly Nano but I see that my # 1, Ultimate's 'Love is the Ultimate' is at 144 on the new chart which is quite a healthy placing for it I think.

I'm happy to say that 23 of my 25 choices made the final list, although WHERE some of them ended up surprises me.

I mean, even with the interference of the Donna Summer Fan Club members, my No. 1 pick, "Rumour Has It," came in at No. 165! On the other hand, my No. 3 pick, "MacArthur Park," came in... at No. 3!

There were some other huge differences too: "One More Minute," my No. 9, came in at No. 329; "Shake Your Body," No. 11/No. 331; and "The Heart to Break the Heart," No. 14/No. 414!

Btw: I can't remember the title; did the outhouse song place?

    Ah Jeffy,

You remembered the "Outhouse" song!!!!!

Apparently, one person's vote for a #1 did NOT give it enough points for it to place.

I haven't gone over the list with a finetooth comb like I did last time...I broke it down alphabetically by artist so I could see at a glance what was there and what wasn't there. (Like all artists beginning with "A" on one page, etc.)

Donna ruled last time too with 15 listings overall--BUT NOT so many in the Top spots.

2 listings per artist seems maybe too restrictive, but I understand that it may keep the "spoilers" away.

I can't even think of voting for the NEXT list NOW--my mind would certainly change by the deadline--and then I'd be racking my brain thinking of ways to vote AGAIN!!!! Maybe I'd have to join the Donna Summer fanclub and see how they were plotting their revenge????!!!!

Although I feel it's right, I am very open to suggestions. Let me know what you guys think about the two song per artist cap.

I'm fine with it. Actually, I deliberately limited myself to only one track from any given artist when I sumitted my top 25.

Honestly, I'm rather suprised that Donna Summer fans would do a stacking campaign... and even more surprised that they would have such poor taste for other disco tracks. Ring My Bell? Gimme a frikkin' break...

I'm surprised that the Donna Summer spam voters didn't cast their remaining votes for other divas like Loleatta Holloway, Thelma Houston, Tawatha Agee, Jocelyn Brown, Gloria Gaynor, Cheryl Lynn, Phyllis Hyman, etc., but chose to vote for crap like "YMCA" and the weak "Ring My Bell". If they really like Donna's music why don't they seek out similarly quality music by other talented black women? And did they vote for any Giorgio Moroder solo productions like "Nights in White Satin" or "The Chase"? Somehow I doubt it. What do the Village People have to do with Summer's style? And they didn't realize that Donna's "Wanderer" is a rock, not a disco, song. Those folks need an education in what good music is all about. Seek them out and teach them what's out there.

I endorse Bernie's idea of an artist-cap. I think it should be 3 per artist rather than 2, but 2 might work also. I love Chic a whole bunch but I only included 2 of their songs (plus two Chic-related productions for Sister Sledge and Diana Ross) in my votes because not only is it not appropriate to fill a faves list with mostly one artist but in all honesty I found 21 other songs I like better than "Good Times", "Le Freak", "Dance Dance Dance", and "Everybody Dance", so I didn't list them, much as I like those songs.

I didn't and wouldn't give my Top 25 chart anymore than two artists per....too boring, plus I knew that other songs by Donna would appear...never thinking in that volume tho...

    Bernie....redo....that is your only option.

Another option that occurred to me is maybe ballots could be submitted only by members who have more that 25 posts (or more or less; that's just an arbitrary number).

I realize that might seem a little elitist, but at least then we'd know that member was serious about being a part of this site, and not here just to stuff the ballot box.

    Hey Marky,

to be true, I can't tell if any of my songs are on the list, because I don't remeber my TOP 25!!! I remember that my number one song is LIVIN' FOR THE CITY by Stevie Wonder. I'm a reber or what? (LOL)

The only mainstream song (?) I remember that made my list was George McCrae's ROCK YOUR BABY - this song made the TOP 500? I'm too lazy to check this now (LOL).

Anyway, I have nothing against the list, of course, and I really like Donna Summer. Well, LOVE'S UNKIND is on the TOP 500, very good choice. I don't think it's ok to limit our choices on 2 songs per artist - if the artist have more than 2 classic songs, they deserve to be on the list.

Oh, I remember now, NIGHT FEVER by THE BEE GEES was on my list too... Probably these 2 songs are on the final countdown, I don't know...

I voted in FOR THE LOVE OF MONEY by THE MIGHTY O'JAYS too... Yep, I have to find my TOP 25 list to check if there's some winners in it.

    Peace,

zeca azevedo, for the love of monKey

I don't like it limits the freedom
however the whole Donna Summer Occupation can be cut down by My (Much Better) Suggestion

Limit the list to members that have say posted more then 20messages on the site
or maybe we could make an alternative top100
    Disco Forum List.

I think with the members voting interferance from outside parties will not be destroying our creation. (coming from the guy who couldn't even get his list together in time)

I think this thing with outside parties is important because next time it might be someone out there who is out to smudge the name of Disco.
And he will nominate Boney M greatest hits for all 25 and do it from 50 different user names and IP's.

I just one the list as genuine as possible.

Although I feel it's right, I am very open to suggestions. Let me know what you guys think about the two song per artist cap.

I think the 2 per artist cap is fine. I forced myself to choose only one song per artist when I did my list. That hurt me when it came to my choice from Jean Carn: WAS THAT ALL IT WAS vs. MY LOVE DON'T COME EASY. I picked "My Love...", knowing if anything made it it would be the other. Oh well, at least I tried.

I see Jeffey was on to the same thing as me...

    Ofcourse it is Elitist but
    Hey so is Society
    SO is the Internet
    And so is life...

I am not sure if it was the fan club that voted for Village People etc...
according to B they had all 25 Donna Summer songs listed.

This could of been one fan sitting in an office borrowing everybody's computer.
The name of our grand nemesis comes to mind FT.

So that he could further more loaf this site for not being underground enough.....

I have no problem with the 2 song per capita limit. However, I'm not sure it will disuade the spoilers... But the harder for them, the better.
It could've been worse, anyway. They could have been from Anita Ward's fan club!!!

P.S. Hey Sutnop, I checked your www link. Is that you in the picture with the chick in red?
It don't mean a thing (if ain't got that swing)
