Quinny: here we "agree to disagree". "Max Headroom" was by far the best TV series of the Eighties. Too bad it lasted so little.
Wouldn't it be better to offer your list before criticizing others? I don't like "The A-Team" and didn't say a word.

I can't even watch that show in reruns anymore, even though it was part of my Saturday night viewing in the mid-80's.

Hi Nano,

I think Quinny was questioning whether Max Headroom was considered and 'ACTION' program, not whether it was good or bad. In any case, I'm with you. I watched every episode of Max. Really pissed me off when they cancelled it.

I still catch it from time to time but like I Love Lucy I sometimes laugh before the lines are uttered.....First four seasons had the best writers....their fifth "issue-oriented" season was their weakest and the spin-off was the worst without Dorothy at the helm.

That's right; I remember "The Golden Palace". It killed that show for good. Sophia was my favorite on the show. Did you know that Betty White was originally slated for the role as Blanche??

One action show of the 80's that I was hooked on starred Jon-Erik Hexum. I can't remember the title of it but all I know that this show aired in 1982-83 (I was 7-8 years old at the time), and Jon-Erik was one of the first TV crushes I had. Unfortunately, he was killed during a stunt during a filming in the spring of '84 and remember hearing it in my mother's car. It stunned me because I knew who he was.

Another show I remember was Manimal that only aired for a few months in 1983. The whole idea of that man turning into a ferocious animal was a turn-on for me, as an 8 year old no less!!

Jon-Erik was indeed a handsome, gorgeous hunk...I think he was the poster boy for young boys who weren't sure..... :)
His unfortunate end came on the set of "Cover Up," the TV series with Jennifer O'Neill....btw, did you know that Jon-Erik was dating E.G. Daily at the time of his death...who later went to to record, "Say It, Say It" and "Love In The Shadows."

Good show but lasted only for a few minutes....starring another blonde hunk, Simon MacCorkindale who later went onto fame as Gregory Reardon on Falcon Crest....

The only show "action show" that still resonates with me from the 1980's is "Wiseguy" with that surly hottie Ken Wahl.

There were excellent "arcs" on the show with some superb actors, considering it was a Stephen J. Cannell show!!!

Stanley Tucci, Ray Sharkey, Kevin Spacey, Ron Silver, Debbie Harry, and even Jerry Lewis were among the great guest actors who contributed so much power to this show about an undercover agent (Wahl) infiltrating MOB organizations in America. (Of course, it was filmed in Canada)!!!. :roll:

Danceman, when I was eight or so, I too had a crush on Wally Cleaver (Tony Dow on "Leave it To Beaver") and Jeff Stone (Paul Petersen on "The Donna Reed Show"), BUT the biggest was on that early bad-boy Ricky Nelson on "Ozzie & Harriet"...he was snarly cool yet wholesome at the same time. Woof!!! :lol:

Man, how could I forget? This guy was slated for big things... and as fine as they come. I mean HOT!! "Cover Up" was a hit with me because on the very first outing, Jon-Erik played a model --- a GAY model. He did it with such style and the right amount of humor. You just had to like this guy. You could see he wasn't taking himself seriously on the set. (I was 30, not 8, and watching VERY closely. ) He looked like he was just having fun.

This was a damn brave move for an unknown actor in the 80's. I respected his guts, and all involved with that pilot. The actor who replaced him, Anthony Hamilton, just left me cold. Good looking, yes. Could he do the gay-thing and pull it off like Jon-Erik? I don't think so. Too cold --- nothing eminating off that screen.

I had heard this but I always take these stories as just another gay urban legend until proof shows up. Funny, I never liked anything I saw this guy in, despite those looks.

No sweat, Nano. BTW, I liked, really LIKED "I Need a Hero". That in itself was strange because normally music running this fast leaves me cold. But, something caught my attention and the more I listened, I just got into it. Plus, the 12" was released at a slower tempo, hoping I guess to chill on that frantic, running feeling.
