Good god, I adored it. I posted the 2nd comment over there.
32 years to see what they looked like.:???::o
I'm probably not going to be popular for this comment, but I've never thought of this track as being an example of disco. Other than the 'thumping' beat, it's not really disco, and I don't even see myself wanting to dance to it. To me its more like muzak. But thanks for the link!
Disco Funk
Thanks Video, this is great , it brings back memories of great Disco nights doing the Bimbo with my fave babes by the beach!!! never saw it before!!:icon_mrgreen:
I guess you had to be there :icon_mrgreen:
This was a massive club hit in Miami at the time, it was played in all parties and dances, and clubs in Miami Beach were pumping El Bimbo from every speaker.
Early Disco club party people (in the US) consider this record to be part of the "underground" sound, as this was not played in almost any radio stations here at the time (at least early on) and there fore you had to visit a Discotheque to listen to it. You had to seek out this music as it was not commercial enough for the masses and/or top 40 Radio.
Take a look at this entry in the vaults, this copy was purchased in NYC , and the guy who bought it told me it was played in all clubs he visited, which by the way were full of Latins!!!!!!. Hence why he bought it!!!! Hence why the record was a massive club hit everywhere they played 'Disco' before this term began to take a different meaning.:D:D
Bimbo by Chocolats boys
Ps: this record was later kind of 'ruined' when it was used in the "Police Academy" flick to depict a Gay Leather scenewhen the producers used it to make fun of the Disco scene.
