I may be way off base here, as I don't listen to the Fugees, but I have a record by freestyle (dance) recording artist Stephanie Bennett. The song is entitled "Oh La La La".
It came out in 98' on Tight Flight Records out of Texas.
Hi, just want to know who did the much faster paced club hi-NRG version of the song from Ohh la la la (Fugees) dated 1996 ?

In '97 a lady from Spain named Alexia released a very catchy eurodance style song titled Uh la la la (i love you baby), lyrics differ from the Fugees title though.

It's not Alexia as it's a fast bpm track, and it's definitely from 96.
Fugees "Fu-Gee-La" (Refugee camp Global Mix)?
I remember Alexa's version. We danced to this song at bday parties held in my friends' houses. We were pre-teens lol
I didn't know there were other versions.
Voyage
Another Group did a number of remakes in high bpm versions of the Fu-Gees hits, The Course made dance versions of "Ooh lalala" and "Killing me softly" as well as from "Ready or not".
It's just a guess though if this is probably the version you're looking for.

I guess Alexa's track (mentioned by DJPir & Voyage) is "La la la means I love you", which is an old soul song from the Sixties with many versions. Swing Out Sisters had a hit with a remake of it in 1994 and Prince recorded it for his Emancipation 3 CD album in 1996.
I think the original version was by The Delfonics, but I could be wrong.
This is NOT the Fugees track.
It don't mean a thing (if ain't got that swing)
Nano,
You are correct that "La La Means I Love You" was by The Delfonics; produced and co-written by the masterful Thom Bell.
The Fugees' song "Fu-Gee-La" is a sample/cover of the song "Ooh La La La" by Teena Marie from Miss Teena's "Naked To The World" LP(1988). At least that's the way I remember it.![]()
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Hi,
The Alexia track is not the old song from the delfonics (great song too, but that's a different story), neither is it the track from the Fugees, it was at the time a newly written track in italo-disco style.
Guess i was a bit off there by thinking maybe disco1999 meant this track purely by title.
I pulled out the cd by the Course and it has several high energy covers of Fugees songs but i'm not sure if this was released in Canada or got played there, i'll see if i can find the time to put the track online so D99 can listen if this is the version he was looking for.
