Hi !
I know a version by Isaac Hayes, which is on
the "New Horizon" album from 1977. It also
features "Menage a trois" and is on Polydor
Records.
Anyone know who recorded a vintage Disco version of "Stranger In Paradise" from the musical "Kismet"? It's a male vocal--my guess is Arthur Prysock--sounds like him--BUT allmusic has no info.
"Take my hand, I'm a stranger in paradise" done in a sort of Salsoul Orchestra "Tangerine"-like arrangement.
Any ideas????

Bustin\' lights all around me ..
Hey thanks, Martinus...
Is the Isaac Hayes version real DISCOish as opposed to his funkier style????
It's a black male voice--very deep--but the arrangement is very reminiscent of Salsoul Orchestra, especially "Tangerine"-- before he starts singing.
Hmmmm...Isaac Hayes, that's interesting....could it be him???? I better listen to my Arthur Prysock 12" stuff and compare to Isaac.
Thanks again.

Most assuredly Isaac Hayes. This song is VERY DISCOISH as you say, a total lack of FUNK used by Mr. H. this time out. I used to play this a lot as everyone was using "Menage a Trois" and thought "Stranger..." was just too pretty. Never lost the floor. Great 'dream' intro on the album version.

I never listened to "Klimet" and Jupiter Sunset Band , probably a french disco band, has a song "Stranger in Paradise" (Forrest/Wright), 1977, maybe I'm on the track.
.
Hi everybody,
I'm with Marcio this time, the track (Strangers in Paradise) that I know is from Jupiter Sunset Band. It match the description made by Marky.
The album cover is 'blue with some kind of bubbles':
Side 1
1- Stranger in Paradise (part 1)
2- Feelings (part 1)
3- Disco feelings
4- Feelings (part 2)
5- Stranger I Paradise (part 1)
Side 2
1- Disco Rhapsody (part 1)
2- Shadow of Doubt
3- Too Bad
4- Disco Rhapsody (part 2)
Arranged & Directed by Alan Reeves. :???:
It's from Top Tape label (in Brazil).
I hope it helps,
Peace

Hi Marcio and Blax,
Sorry guys, but I'm gonna hang out with Martinus on this one. If you have the Ike Hayes lp with "Menage A Trois" then play the track before it. This is a SERIOUS disco outing (taking the 'Euro' format, not the funk/philly/stax format) for Isaac. Extended intro, heavy orchestration, screaming vixens and soaring strings at the end to 'push' the song so it stays in your mind.
The only song I remember "Black Moses" doing even close to this is his cover of "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me", but even that is funkier than "Stranger In Paradise".
All right Marky, it's up to you. Tell us which one when you find out.
