curtis hairston released "i want you all tonight"/pretty pearl records in '82 but he had a release prior to that. Could someone clue me to the earlier release-title/label/ year. Does it have a similar feel-120bpm+

I think he had a couple of more singles out on Pretty Pearl but I'm not sure they were before "I Want You All Tonight".

Maybe someone can check the Billboard R&B singles charts and let you know - I have my copy at home and I'm sure I'll never remember to look it up...

I Want You All Tonight is a fantastic soulful track and the "make it make it - make it make it right" line has been sampled in more than one occasion in recent house tracks.

Did someone say..."Get Out the Chart Book???"!!!!

Don't mind if I dooooo...actually, I went there when I first read the post...BUT everything listed was AFTER 1982...sooo I thought it didn't apply. BUT, now Deep Beat says maybe the song you're inquiring about might have come out later...soooo, I'll happily post the info contained in the chart book. Whew!!! I AM full of it, aren't I???

    3 songs listed:

WE ARE ALL ONE - (1984) Pretty Pearl
I WANT YOUR LOVIN' (JUST A LITTLE BIT) - (1985) Pretty Pearl
    (YOU'RE MY) SHINING STAR - (1987) Atlantic

    That's it, folks.

Marky: Just out of interest, when it says posted at 3.24 what time is it in LA? Two or so hours earlier I'm guessing?

thanks-I guess I was way off on the release date of the "I want you all tonight" single-I did'nt have the record at hand and to be perfectly honest I had'nt listened to it in maybe 10 years- but at the time of it's release-post '82 there was such a dearth of good dance music that it sort of stands out as a solid track. There was a previous release on a lesser known label that I happened to see on ebay a few months ago that went for quite alot of money-but it was one of those things -I just did'nt pay enough attention to the details-oh well. I want to say the title was something like "summertime"-not to be confused with the Leroy Burgess prod. High Frequency
"hot fun in the summertime"- much thanks --again

Curtis hairston had a killer track out in '84 called 'The Morning After'. Havent got any info on it but I loved it when I heard it on the radio.

i found it! the track i was searching for is
    entitled "summertime" produced by leroy
burgess, greg carmichael, and earl"the pearl" monroe, who coincidently was the owner of pretty pearl rec. The release date was 1983 on pretty pearl same year as "i want you all tonight". "I want your lovin" was released in 1985 same year as "we are all one".
Curtis Hairston's "summertime" was a more recent cover- the High Frequency version on Nia Rec. was released in 1980 with the same prod. crew.
A nice site for soul/funk/disco label referencing is Black Music Catalogue.
