OK, back to more traditional era Disco. Gregg Diamond/Bionic Boogie is this week's artist.
Risky Changes is my pick. Yea, it's the obvious choice but it's so damn good it still kicks ass!

Gregg Diamond did some pretty terrific stuff including writing/producing Andrea True's classic "More, More, More"...BUT from his own oeuvre I'll pick two in the morning/sleaze genre...

"Hot Butterfly" - Bionic Boogie with lead vocals by Luther Vandross and I've heard tell Cissy Houston is singing somewhere in there too.

"Fancy Dancer" - sexy groove with either Jocelyn Brown or Diva Gray singing lead...LP credits don't specify which. Help!!!
    "Lost inside adorable illusion...."

Oh no! Not Greg! Impossible to pick a few!
    1 - FANCY DANCER
2 - THIS SIDE OF MIDNIGHT
    3 - PAPPILLON
4 - FESS UP TO THE BOOGIE
    5 - DANCE LITTLE DREAMER
    6 - MORE MORE MORE
    I'd better stop.

All of the above, many too numerous to mention PLUS - "Arista Vista" and the often overlooked but personal favorite on my Top 100, his TK release, "DANGER." Was there ever an album with "Danger" on it?

However,...he did have an album on Mercury called HARDWARE that I thought really sucked - anyone remember that one?

Excellent! Let me restate LOUDLY that "Danger" is my all time fave by Mr. Diamond. But, running a very close second is the always sexy "Fancy Dancer". I have to go one more and pick "Feel Like Dancing", a 3:55 instrumental of that "Dance Little Dreamer" lp. I loved the orchestration ---and those breaks!

    1)"Danger"
    2)"Fess Up To The Boogie"
    3)"Risky Changes"
    4)"This Side Of Midnight"
    5)"Starcruisin´"

    7)"More, More, More"
    "N.Y.You Got Me Dancing"

What about his productions with GEORGE McCRAE

He did a track called 'Chains' that was rather good too, but not as goog as the afore-mentioned 'Hot Butterfly' & 'This Side of Midnite' it has to be said. Greg has to be up there as one of the gods on the 'Mount Olympus of Disco'!

For me it's definitely "Hot Butterfly". And of course I love his work with the Andrea True Connection.

Oh man... this is a tough one to pick...

As Bionic Boogie: Probably "Fess Up To The Boogie". Might seem like a strange choice, but I just find it so endearing. Of course, I love almost all of "Bionic Boogie" and "Hot Butterfly"... such great album covers too!

As Gregg Diamond: Probably "This Side Of Midnight".

And I loved the entire "More, More, More" LP... amazing how good that album is, despite the fact that Andrea True couldn't sing her way out of toilet paper handcuffs.

You know, Gloria Gaynor's "Glorious" really isn't as bad as people make it out to be. I quite like "We Can Start All Over Again", "As Time Goes By/The Hands Of Time" and of course, "Most Of All". IMO, the big problem is that the album just doesn't come together as a whole, the way her previous efforts did. And the mixing on some tracks leaves much to be desired.

But I'll agree that "Hardware" was pretty weak... as was the final BB album, "Tiger Tiger". I guess 1979 just wasn't a good year for him.

I'll have to go with "Risky Changes" because its the only one I know of his. "Chains" is another fave of mine by Bionic Boogie its too bad that I don't know some of the others that were mentioned like "This Side of Midnight", Fancy Dreamer" etc.....

Cream Always Rises to the Top, Chains and Risky Changes were played at the P' House and were the only ones I knew by Bionic Boogie. I enjoyed dancing to each one immensely, but Cream always had that underground gay flavor to me: "Lowdown, there's a showdown on the dock and you're tryin' to find an empty truck." That's what I thought the lyrics said and I knew about the docks in NYC where the gay boys picked each other up for random, hot sex so it made sense to me! Well and of course the line about cream rising to the top. Go Luther!!

Gregg Diamond is wonderful, I like "More More More" (Andrea True Connection)", "This Side of Midnight", "Stop the Music" (Bionic Boogie) and "1/8 of Your Love" (Hardware).

Gregg Diamond wrote a very nice (I think)Saint Tropez' disco song, "Coeur à Couer".

The song was originally done in English as "Heart To Heart" by the Andrea True Connection. It's on the most excellent "More, More, More" LP. Rinder & Lewis translated it to French for Saint Tropez. BTW, they also covered Van McCoy's "African Symphony" on the same LP...

Nope... it was only released as a 12" single.

Surprising for the time how much bass there is on that record... almost up to contemporary levels...

For those who don't already know, the "More, More, More" album is not only my favorite disco album, but it's one of my favorite albums in general. I absolutely love this album. And I happen to like Andrea's singing, but that's just a matter of opinion.
