Recently I got some more 70's Top Of The Pops episodes from a mate in UK and one of the episodes is the 1979 800th show and on it was Telex's "Rock Around The Clock". Watching it I was pissing myself laughing because it was so damn funny, so I thought I'd share it with you's.
The original version by Bill Haley & The Comets, you'd expect the blokes and girls to swing and dance at sock hop dances and the Comets dressed in their matching thatched pattern jackets playing big oboes while Bill sings and plays guitar.
But Telex's is way different. It's much slower with the electronica rhythm and the guy with the beard and glasses (who looks like a professor) sings slower with distorted voice. Now here's the funny bit, he is just sitting in the seat calmly singing no energy at all and he reads the newspaper and drinks a glass of water  , no swinging sock hop dancing energy at all like Bill Haley & The Comets  . I was pissing myself laughing.
I was wondering have any of you seen this clip?
Since it's Telex, there's of course some really cool special video effects to go with the performance too.
I wonder if the singer does the same thing in the music video version i.e. sing calmly seated while reading a newspaper and drinking a glass of water  .
Just thought I'd share this with you's.
Australia mate! The land of many great funkateers!
