EL COCO is also another word for THE DEVIL in Spanish

I hadn't made this connection :roll: .....now revealed in Bernie's updated interview with Laurin Rinder :
*****Within a two-month stretch they pounded out tons of material with the first one being El Coco's "Let Get It Together." When I asked Laurin how the name El Coco came about he readily admits, "We were doing a lot of cocaine … it was pretty much that simple my friend."
Baby, take me

high up where the stallion

EL COCO is also another word for THE DEVIL in Spanish
Really, I thought the devil was el diablo? Well, I learned something new today :-D
Find them and destroy them!
Thanks disco kid. You live in Venezuala?
Find them and destroy them!
Remicks, you Nostradamus you!
You just wrote the Remicks Code. Today I finally got El Coco's "Greatest Disco Hits", I plug it in, I come online and the first topic I see is El Coco :-o
Amazon-U.S. | Amazon-U.K.
What a feast, a smorgasbörd at least!
"Cocomotion", "Brazil", "Let's Get It Together", "Dancin' In Paradise", "Mondo Disco" and my peronal favo "Afrodesia", all on one little silver disc!
BTW, did they ever made Videos?????
for those looking for the long LP version of "cocomotion" i have only found it on the disco 54 series "the AVI collection".-- Amazon-U.S. | Amazon-U.K. every El Coco CD i have, it is edited. even on the AVI Collection it fades out near the end, but it's almost the entire version...close enough...
The AVI Collection also includes a longer of "lust" by Rinder and Lewis that was never released on vinyl...the outro is almost a full 2 minutes longer. lots of other forgotten jems on it as well.
I've found it at Amazon and Ebay for as little as 1.99!
I live in San Diego, CA.
Find them and destroy them!
Too bad "Love In Your Life" is not included in the compil CD.
Mixes superbly with Belgian "Chocolate's"
Paul, just admit it, you're from Manchester too :icon_twisted:
Hey Johan, is there something I should know about Manchester?
Find them and destroy them!
Yep, SANDRA DEE. Which is a cryptogram for San Diego.
Now, ain't I a smart guy ;-)
You da man Johan 8)
Find them and destroy them!
Actually, Unidisc has put it out on vinyl at least twice, starting in the 80s. Once on a multi-artist 12", another time backed with "Willie and the hand jive" IIRC.
The Disco 54: AVI compilation is great... I just wish that it hadn't been so severely hard-limited during the mastering stage.
That happens if Belgians post after 36hrs without sleeping. They speak in tongues! :-o
Just jokin' between friends, you know. But I'm still after the guy who dared to call you a "Dave" on this board. Now, If I ever get my hands on him :icon_twisted:
San, you+me=love and harmony ;)
You can, you can, you can!
Logistics! We had to break up, transport and re-build 4 attractions. You see, I lead http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aiN2JqXwJiQ :-o  Would you join us???? Ermmmmm????? Coz' our life is pretty COCO sometimes!
I'd love life on the open road in Belgium!![]()
...ya gotta beat the street......
I bought the Unidisc 12" of 'Lust' b/w 'Willie & The Hand Jive' brand new a few years ago from Sam The Record Man. They had to order it from Unidisc. The sound quality was great.

My what a hardened group we are !!!:icon_exclaim:
I started this thread with the revolutionary revelation (! thought) that Rinder & Lewis were such coke heads that it played heavily into their ability to produce a massive volume of work ....and even resulted in their naming their biggest monikered act EL COCO after the stuff. :icon_surprised::o
But 22 posts into this and nary a peep ......:p
ho hum !!
that there was lots of druggin' connected to this scene is no secret
I guess
..... I just found this as so unapologetically upfront about it ....beyond any other reference I've come across ....
