Does anyone know the story behind the choice of the Dells to cover the Is It It song from the PJB, from an album unreleased in the USA ?

if you're referring to the Dells of "Stay in my Corner"/"There Is"/"Wear it on Our Face" fame it's hard for me to imagine them still being active (as I recall I was a fan of theirs in the 1960s) let alone performing disco. And by the way, for anyone not familiar with the Dells, one of the things they're best known for is the fact that "Stay in my Corner" has a lead vocal line in which the singer holds a note for longer than seems humanly possible....I always wondered if it was real or spliced together. 11/14/2009

I can't answer the Peter Jacques Band question, but the Dells really did some great disco LPs. I think they did some dance tracks in '75 before hooking up with Norman Harris, but when he worked with them, it was magic. They put out They Said It Couldn't Be Done, But We Did It (see Our Love below from this LP), and Love Connection with him, using the philly MFSB guys. Later on, they would also do All Your Goodies Are Gone and other tracks with George Clinton, and then in the early 80s, a bunch of Chicago productions including a great cover of All About The Paper. and a nice mid-tempo dance number called Ain't It A Shame. They transitioned from soul to disco seamlessly, for me anyway.

'All About The Paper' was a Double 'A' Side single with 'I Touched A Dream' on the flip.

A great song, sort of Billy Paul meets Barry White.

Maybe I can answer myself ?

The maybe spend some holiday in Italy where "IS IS IT" was number one on the chart and they liked the song so much that they wanted to do a cover....?

imho Peter Jacques Band had way better tunes than The Dells, and the Dells were pretty good businessmen for covering songs of an underrated band like PJB.
