There was a record by a group called Starlette ( I think) in 1981 in the UK called Shine On. Is that it?
Here we go for another faily easy track to be identified. It's not George Duke. Nasal female voice from 1981-82.
It goes something like:
Shiiiiiiine
Shine on
you know you've gotta shine on

...ya gotta beat the street......
I believe that around the firste years of the 80's there was a "Shine On" 12" on one of the subsidiares labels of Atlantic records (The pale grey one) and it was by a band called Orient Express.
the song you are searching for is
Celena Duncan - Shine on, RCA 1981
The same song was recorded by Orient Express in 1982 - with male lead vocals
Oh god yes, I forgot about that one. Celena Duncan went on to have a bit of a hi-nrg career in the mid-80's being another diva to get the Ian levine treatment but by this time he was past his best with that genre i.e.Miquel brown, 7th Avenue, Evelyn Thomas etc.

I have something by Celena Duncan...what was it called???? Ummmm..."Do It To Me"??? or something sorta generic like that. Was that a part of Ms. Duncan's oeuvre???
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Celena Duncan, that's it. Any relation to the Duncan Sisters ?
Ms Duncan did possibly have a generic oeuvre Marky but you know I'm not one to gossip!
...ya gotta beat the street......

Actually, the record I was referring to is called simply "Do It" from 1982 on an RCA Import from England; produced and co-written by Sandy Linzer of Dr. Buzzard fame.
Anyone know this one???

No I dont but I'd like to hear it. I love that Sandy Linzer sound. Its got to be better than the Ian Levine produced one that I've got.
