Patrick Cowley apparently did a remix version of Tantra - Hills of Katmandu. Anyone heard it ? is it worth hunting this vinyl from JDC records USA ?

Yes! He did do a remix. I never found the vinyl, but I have it on a CD. The CD is from Unidisc(Canada)SP5-1229. The CD was one in a series Unidisc did called 12 Inch Classics on CD. The date on the CD is 1993. The first cut at 13:27 is the original version, the second cut is the Cowley remix at 16:21. He was a master that man, sad to think of what he would have created if not for his all-too-soon death.

    Hi disco1999 & discoadam:

the 13:27 version is the "Patrick Cowley Remix" and the 16:21 version is the original Jürgen Koppers mix (album version).
I think the JDC remix is the "Underground mix" (14:00), also published on Hot Tracks "Hot Classics Issue 4".

    Dear Friends!
I have a version from "Hills Of Katmandu"
released on UNIDISC and it is 14.00 long.
Because of the great synthesizer-parts, I
    assume that´s the Cowley-Remix. Also I
mentioned this track on my charts-listing.

I know also the Unidisc record with this 14:00 version, flipside is the "Hot Plate" mix . This is same version which Hot Tracks has published as "Underground Mix".
The "Patrick Cowley Remix" from Unidisc CD (SP5-1229) is different to the "Underground Mix".
I found never informations about remixer of "Underground Mix", maybe Steve Algozino (Hot Tracks founder).

I've never heard the P.Cowley remix of the classic Tantra track, but I was never fond of what he did to 'I Feel Love'. There really should be a preservation order put on these tracks so nobody can touch them IMO. Sorry if I've offended Cowley fans; I actually like some of his own stuff like magatron man but I'm not a big remix fan I'm afraid. Like they say, if it aint broke dont fix it!

Hi! This is one of the songs I have been looking for for a loooooong time and I 'm glad to hear it is available on CD. However, I looked in CDNow and Amazon and they don't show it anywhere. Does anybody know where to get this CD?

    Hi Ricardo,
Unidisc has published the Tantra CD only from 1993-98.
I guess you find this CD, with many luck, in second hand shops or by eBay auctions. The complete CD informations:
    Tantra - Hills Of Katmandu
12 Inch Classics On CD Series
    SP5-1229
    1993 Unidisc Productions Int'l Ltd.

Thanks Hot. I checked with my local music store and the guy told me that the CD is available and can be special ordered, which I did.

    Thanks again!
