Hey, looks like I found one hard to crack. Ok
    here are some clues:
    1)Is a band
2)This track was the first single of their
    third album
3)The song (according to the album release notes) "was inspired and dedicated to the American hostages in Iran", remember is 1981!!!

    Hey B-M-P Rob,

    Hope you are rested!!!

I am probably wrong--BUT I've been thinking maybe something by Adam Ant??? "Stand And Deliver"???? Probably NOT. But it seems like there should be a "Fight" or Stand Up" or something in the title???? Am I totally off track??? I think I know this record--BUT it's not really clear yet....BUT, I haven't given up, yet!!!!

Yep, I slept a lot, so i feel in a generous mood and ready to give a bit more clues.
Marky, I think you know by now about my oustanding admiration I have for you and your knowledge, but "Adam and the Ants"????
Dedicating a song to the American hostages????

    GIMMMMMMEEABREEEEEK!!!!!

    Here are the clues:

    1)Is on Atlantic Records (USA)
2)Is a very funky track, with an amazing percussion intro and a great guitar and bass riff but the vocal arrangement is in a sort of Manhattan Transfer style
3)The album (that start with a very distinct intro used in more than one disco mixer)cover boost two big signature: B.Positive and D.Termination

So Adam and the Ants weren't the socially-conscious U2 or The Clash of their day???? Didn't organize charity-relief concerts like Bob Geldof or George Harrison??? Just kiddin'!!!!!

OK, someone socially conscious & pretentious, huh???

    Hmmmmmmmm..... :???:

Not sure if they can be definied "conscious",for sure they are not "fashion-conscious" on the back of the album, there is a pic of the whole band wearing some very dodgy party frocks!!!!
By the way, I went and check and this track is EVEN listed in the DiscoMusic.com vault, so is not as obscure as you can think, let's put this braincells at work!!!!!

Since Graham led the direction here and never finished it off....

Is it "Get Tough" by Kleeer????

    1981 on Atlantic????

I don't know this song; just an educated guess--OKAY--I cheated off Graham's paper!!!

That's the John Wayne line in it. Yeah, I'd agree, Kleeer.

For the record (pun not intended)... I couldn't check because the LP is buried at the back of a 3-foot-deep pile of vinyl that is currently my "to be filed" pile.

    I guess I need a bigger apartment...
