Hey Marky. I think we talked about where Stephanie Miller is. I heard she's in NYC on The Oxygen Network hosting a show called "I've Got A Secret."
Question. I heard Alice Rantel mention recent "gay bashings" in West Hollywood. Have you heard about this? He will have a guest on his show who is known in the gay community for advocating that homosexuals pack heat (the lead kind ).

    Hi Paul,

Thanks for the info on Stephanie Miller. I heard her mention a pilot for "I've Got A Secret" back when she was still on radio--however, WHO gets the Oxygen network????

I know Oprah & Candy Bergen have shows on it--BUT it isn't on in LA. Although, I have heard rumors that it's on it's way. BUT what took it so long????

As for the West Hollywood gay bashings, I have heard that two gay guys were bashed by three hoods wielding baseball bats a few weeks ago. It occurred on Cynthia Street at San Vicente, a block north of Santa Monica, where Rage and Mickeys and all things gay are located. Apparently, the two gay guys had just had dinner and were saying good night when a car pulled up and three guys emerged with weapons and started clubbing one guy. The other was struck but managed to get into his car and get away. Two witnesses drove by, flashed their lights and called the cops. The assailants fled in their car. The guy who was beaten, Trev Broudy , a 33-year old actor, is still in a coma. Later, another man filed a complaint and said he had also been attacked in the same area earlier that evening. I don't know much else. This weekend, I read that a Jew bashing took place in WeHO. A pack of guys attacked some Jewish guys with bats and such. I don't know if the incidents are in any way related.

Sad to say, the sketches of two of the assailants in the gay bashing are of black men in their early 20's.

The victim's parents, The Abbey restaurant, and WeHo novelist, Christopher Rice, son of Anne Rice, have offered a $50,000 reward.

WeHo is definitely up in arms over this type of violence happening in the heart of their city. I haven't heard that carrying guns was being advocated, BUT I don't doubt that it's been discussed.

Why do I get the feeling Marky that the young assailants are college frat pledges. I remember at Northeastern Univ. that criminal behaviour was a problem at Omega Psi Phi fraternity. That frat was kicked of campus because of that.

Paul, I'm surprised to hear that the OPP frat behaved in that fashion at Northeastern. OOP (the "Ques") were one of the best-behaved frats at Syracuse, Black or White.

Well Boodi, I don't see a smiley face so I guess you're serious. OPP or the "Q Dogs" were known as the bad boy frat. They encouraged their pledges to get food from stores without money, they inflicted severe pain on the guys and were over the top on their macho persona just to name a few things I can remember. The IOTAs and the ZETAs were the other frats I remember. The IOTAs had no respect and the ZETAs were viewed as punk pretty boys. Even back then it all seemed silly to me and I never had any serious interest in joining any of them.

Well, the composite drawing I've seen of the alleged criminal, who bashed the guy in WeHo looks more like a Gangsta rapper wearing a dark beanie or skull cap. One of the other assailants was said to have short braids (Buckwheat???). They were driving a 1987 or 1988 Nissan Sentra, possibly brown or faded red with CA license plates with the partial number of 3SD0 or 3SOU.

Sounds like gangsta thugs more than frat brats to me--BUT, THESE DAYS,....what's the difference and who can tell????

I have nothing BUT contempt for Frat Boys and their hazing rituals and sadistic games...what is the purpose of a fraternity in this day and age???? Ban them all!!!!

    Hey Marky,
Seems like these random acts of violence are also occuring in San Diego's Hillcrest area, the predominant gay community down here.

Update: For the record, some arrests were made this week in the gay bashing incident described earlier. I'll keep you posted on the outcome.

I've heard about the arrest of suspects up there. Apparently there is controversy surrounding wether these men should be charged with "Hate Crimes." I heard there was a protest on this matter. What is your take on this Marky?

It sure sounds like a "hate crime" to me--it wasn't about robbery--it was about BASHING.

    Charge them with it, dammit!!!!
