Fox is showing all the "Idol" kids in a 2 hour special tonight and then Kelly is on Leno later tonight.
Entertainment Weekly graded Kelly's single: D+ in this week's issue. I don't have it with me--BUT it was NOT kind.
The Idol kids will be on tonight in case anyone is interested.
I wonder how Kelly Clarkson's single is doing? I haven't heard it on the radio.

"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
I would watch this if it wasn't opposite "Monday Night Football".
I would rather watch paint dry on a test pattern as opposed to Football....unless the guys would start doing something inventive, like showing some interesting Locker Room footage or showing us what really goes on in those cuddles...I mean, huddles....
on another note....I thought the review in Entertainment Weekly on Kelly was very harsh and undeserving...she had to sing what she was given to sing and she still did a FANTASTIC job....case closed....!
I am sure if she had her druthers, she would have belted out another "Stuff Like That There," or "Respect," or something along those lines...critics (myself having been one, can suck BIG TIME - forget about the music they report on...NO, make that criticize....)
Before I go out this evening, I plan on taping the show and watching it at a later time.....yes, the single is sappy, but appropriate for a person of that age, plus the lyrics are very touching.....I hear it here and there on NY radio's Lite Music Station....when she does a disco number, we will all be her biggest supporters and run out and buy the CD, right?!

I'm in the middle of watching "American Idol in Vegas"--AND it dawned on me that the bigggest service this show is doing for the youth of America is NOT discovering new performers. It is introducing the youth of America,to the great music of past decades that they most likely would NOT hear in this age of Rap, Hip-Hop and puerile teen pop. If their parent's forced them to listen to this stuff--they'd gag and run to their rooms seeking solace in Backstreet Boys OR Nelly--BUT when Justin, Kelly & Co. perform it--it's suddenly "retro cool".
If only a small percentage of the teens and pre-teens that I see screaming to this music, take the time to check out the original recordings of these, for the most part, beautifully selected pop, rock and disco tunes from the 60's, 70's and 80's (so far)...a great service to the music we love will have been done.
I've heard classics by Aretha Franklin, The Drifters, Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind & Fire, The Miracles, Dionne Warwick, and lots of others sung tonight. Tamyra is belting out "Over The Rainbow" as I type this....
Hey, "American Idol" is a GOOD THING for the future of music, IMHO.
Maybe, a generation of kids used to hearing the pap and crap played on today's Top 40 will "Turn back the hands of time" and explore the musical heritage of the past.
Maybe, in the future...when someone here asks about the "Toot...toot...yeah, beep...beep" song, Grampsdefad won't have to answer--BUT some young whippersnapper will beat me to the keyboard with a "Dude, that's Donna Summer's "Bad Girls"--remember when that hot chick sang that on "American Idol"???"
Hey, it could happen!!!!!!
"Yeah, and monkeys might fly outta my butt, Garth"!!!! I can just hear y'all slamming me now!!!!
Well, I can dream, can't I?????

All through the show they've been teasing that Kelly is gonna duet with her idol...so I'm trying to guess the DIVA...obviously Aretha is in my head, since Kelly sang at least three of her tunes in competition. BUT Miss Re performing with a neophyte??? Does NOT compute. Soooo...who could it be???
Well, the moment arrives and Kelly herself introduces her fave singer....Reba McIntire!!! DUH....I'm disappointed at first...BUT then they start the Reba/Linda Davis duet "Does He Love You?" (ALSO sung by Liza Minnelli & DONNA SUMMER, on Liza's "Gently" CD--see Jeff, I saved ya a post.. ).
These two sound great together...and it all makes sense that Kelly is so much more at home doing this countryish/R&B stuff than the POP PRINCESS DIVA mold they've forced her into. However, the tease after that song is that Kelly is gonna sing her NUMBER 1 HIT later....sooo...well maybe they do know what they're doing. Could it be??? Number 1???? :???:
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
I enjoyed the show, but I think this medley thing is getting a little tired.
Howard Stern said he watched "American Idol in Vegas" and "Monday Night Football" simultaneously.
"American Idol" has been deemed..."THE GAYEST SHOW ON TV" by the self-proclaimed "King Of All Media". Robin Quivers said she realized that the show was too "GAY" in the first season closer.
"Gay" is the new putdown as in "lame". I've had to deal with kids I've worked with using the term. Making them stop everytime they say "Dude that's sooo gay" and rewind and substitute another adjective....BUT I'm only one person....it's rampant.

Dude, that is the gayest thing I've ever heard.
Marky....Anything that Howard Stern says is lamer than lame so try not to put any stock in what he or Robin Q. says....or his audience...he is just a frustrated Gay wannabe who realized long ago that someone with his looks and brains could never find true happiness in a Man's World so he turned his sick humor on the Gay community instead and took the Coward's way outand married....On 2002-09-25 10:52, markydefad wrote:

Nothing I have ever seen on TV has ever been TOO GAY for me, schucks...(I consider Queer As Folk as about even)....and if American Idol is considered a GAY SHOW....then I am glad I am watching it...half the guys I work with watch it and I know many of them are non-Gay, so they would be amused to hear Coward Stern's remarks...
Fire those kids, if they won't stop....or finish their line with..."Gay is the Only Way"...and smile when you say it as your pulling your foot from up their lame ass...
