I caught this show in glimpses here and there and saw (as well as taped) all the major awards.....
The show was, by and large, a big snnnnooooooozzzzzzzzzzzzzzeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Former Mayor Rudy from New York City gave the best speech....and the best acceptance speech came from Stockard Channing when she won the award for playing Matthew Shepard's mother (the young Gay man in Wyoming who was tortured and left for dead by two homophobes...he eventually died) and she spoke briefly yet eloquently about man's inhumanity to man.....
I was very surprised that Six Feet Under won only a background award and the only one for acting was by Patricia Richardson who won for playing Francis Conroy's sister on two episodes....I think that the two actresses and two actors from that show who were nominated in the BEST ACTING categories cancelled each other out....but i am THRILLED that Michael Chiklis won for The Shield....he is brilliant in that cable TV show and so very deserving.....I only saw a handful of episodes but that show is riveting and well worth the hour watch....when is it's new season on cable...who knows???
Conan O'Brien was OK as the host....much rather have Ellen DeGeneres back or Gary Shandling....the bit on the horse was cute and funny....
I am glad that Everybody Loves Raymond (almost) swept the acting in comedy, but Peter Boyle should have taken it over his co-star Brad Garrett....happy to see Friends win for best comedy and Jennifer Aniston get it as well....
Pissed that The West Wing won again but not shocked....and very glad that none of those girls from the Sex show won....
OK - enuf said....any other commentaries?
