They had a top 30 R&B hit in 1980 with "I heard it in a love song". They where probably to busy writing stuff like "I'll always love my mama", "Wake up every body" & "Backstabbers".
Maybe some people gonna shoot me for this 1, but I honestly only know 1 hit by these guys.

They did do some recording as Talk Of The Town back in the early 70s on one of Gamble & Huff's labels, but that didn't go anywhere.
Disco Funk
In the 80's, they wrote for different sole acts with the most successful being Freddie Jackson.
John Whitehead had a solo LP out in 1988 entitled "I Need Money Bad" (which he really did  - he had quite a few tax problems at the time)
Some might remember the single "Body Move".
McFadden & Whitehead were a one-hit as a recording act, but produced a string of really fine tracks for disco from '72 onwards. In addition to the tracks mentioned above, they were responsible for Archie Bell's Let's Groove and Strategy; Gloria Gaynor's Let's Mend What's Been Broken; Melba Moore's Standing Right Here, Pick Me Up, and You Stepped Into My Life.
