Maybe what happened is: this re-recorded tracks are also old (mid-80's) but cheaper than the original versions.
That happened to me in some many-artists cheap compilations with Supremes and Giorgio Moroder material.
I've bought some really good compilation CDs & re-issues recently but one I was not pleased with is this one called 'Cuba'. I've got some Gibson Bros tracks but not others like 'Come to America' & 'Better Do It Salsa' so thought it would be nice to have all their stuff on one CD & at a very cheap price (I cant resist a bargain).
When I played it I found that everything has been re-recorded using cheap-sounding synths & that magical sound was very absent.
Why does this happen? Surely it costs more to re-record tracks than re-package the original ones. This has happened b4 when I bought a cheapo CD compilation; not only were alot of the tracks re-recorded but they were ludicrously short lengths too.
I s'pose this'll teach me to be cheap!
Avoid this CD Gibson Brothers fans; it's on the Bianco label & says 'made in the EU'.
...ya gotta beat the street......

It don't mean a thing (if ain't got that swing)
Hey Steely Dan,
Was the label for that cd Madacy? I was ripped by them once. Never again!
Find them and destroy them!
Hot Productions did the same thing on the Three Degrees! Horribly cheap rerecordings. Watch out for the cover where the ladies look their age!![]()

I have mid-price Gibson Brothers CD also entitled Better Do it Salsa and the tracks on it are definately the original versions as far as I'm aware.
Mine has the word Laserlight Digital on the bottom right of the CD box and it appears to originate from Germany.
What is the track listing of yours?
