    I know there is an endless amount of disco samples used in todays music. There are so many people that dont have a clue that their new favorite song was taken form a 1977 jam. What are the name of some of your favorites, mine are

    Chicago - Streetplayer, Bucketheads - The Bomb

    Sylvia Striplin- Give me your love, AVH - Full Moon

    Pino D'angio - Ma Quale Idea, Madison Ave. - Dont Call Me Baby

    Loose joints - Is it all over my Face
    Ecstacy passion and pain - Touch and Go
    Wood Brass and Steel - Funkanova

    The list goes on and on

    Sister Sledge - All American Girls, Tom Jones&MousseT - Sex Bomb

    Chic - My Forbidden Lover - Alcazar - Sexual Guarantee

    Sheila B. Devotion - Spacer, Alcazar - Crying at the discoteque

    Change - Glow of Love, Phatts and Small - Got To turn around (Lyrics sampled from Tony Lee - reach up)

    But I Like the "original" songs more than the DiscoHouse-Tracks.

    Dear Friends!
    I think the most sampled DiscoTrax are
    "Love Sensation" by Loleatta Holloway and
    "Let No Love Put Asunder" by First Choice.
    Cosmic Love & Kisses From SIRIUS & DARKTUNES

    Love Sensation - Loleatta Holloway was released in 1980. As far as 1977, Let No Man Put Asunder - First Choice was my favorite disco track sampled.
    Keep the faith and everything will come your way as time marches on!

    I've also heard literally dozens of tracks that sample Bohannon's 'Lets Start The Dance'.

    Carrie Lucas - Dance With You/Armand Van Helden - You Don't Know me

    I think Armand's track has become a classic by now.

    wear it out stargard - big love pete heller

    glow of love change - all for you janet jackson

    I cant really think of any more but a couple of years ago I was on holiday in Spain and was in a bar that was playing heavy trance music. An instrumental track was on that was repeating a riff that mutated into a sample of Romeo and Juliet by Alec R Costandinos. I would love to find out what that was. Anybody got any ideas.

    The best I've heard is Johnick's 'Play The World', which samples First Choice's 'The Player'. It came out on Henry Street Records in NYC. Big club record, but not a hit.

    I rather like the subtle sample of El Coco's 'Dancing In Paradise' on Ultra Nate's 'Dear John'. In fact her whole CD 'Stranger Than Fiction' is one of my favourite CDs of recent years.

    Steely: Rough Quote: Loads of tunes have sampled 'Let's Start The Dance'.
    I'd love to know some of them 'cos I'm hopeless at putting 2 and 2 together.

    Well, as I said some weeks ago (and nobody seemed to read then) I'm pretty sure the backbeat of Massive Attack's "Protection" (one of their best tracks) was sampled from the beginning of the original recording of "The Payback" by Mr. James Brown himself. This is not mentioned in the CD credits, though (as Marky had noted then). We all know Mr. Brown is pretty expensive when it comes to sound samples.
    But my favorite record sample-size is probably the whole of the Beastie Boys's "Paul's Boutique" album. It contains several recognizable samples by Curtis Mayfield ("Superfly"), The Beatles ("The End") and even Bernard Herrman's violin score for the "Psycho" movie's memorable bathroom scene. All used with taste and constructing songs quite different than the originals.
    That album was released in 1989 and probably would be impossible to make today, because of the new law on clearing samples and the subsequent copyrights. Given the artists involved, it would be too expensive.

    Spacer, are you sure these are real samples and not complete rip-offs? (I'm pretty sure the Modjo track is a rip-off.) Are there any credits in the album covers?

    I don't have the "Lady"-Album, but in "soup for one" there's a synthesizer part that misses in "Lady" ( I think they used not more than 10 seconds from the chic song and repeated it ). and the guitar is played a little bit faster in the Modjo track.

    I got the Sex Bomb Maxi (but I can't find it at the moment) so I can't look up the credits. The intro really seems to be ripped.

    Well, I think "Phatts And Small-Tonight" could perhaps be a complete rip-off played at a littlebit faster speed.

    (I'll keep on searchin for the Sex Bomb maxi...)

    found the maxi: there's no comment on sister sledge or the chic- corporation or their label

    The 1st one is very likely my all time fav:
    LTD-Kickin' back <-> Antoine Clamaran-Get up
    Patrick Hernandez-Born to be alive <-> Antoine Clamaran-What
    Donna Summer-Bad girls <-> ATFC - Sleep talk (Bad night sleep mix)
    Donna Summer-Bad girls <-> G High - Party
    Donna Summer-I feel love <-> MousseT vs Moloko - Sing it back (feel love mix)
    Donna Summer-I feel love <-> Joey Beltram - Slice
    Donna Summer-I feel love <-> DrMotte&Westbam - Burning up
    SilverConvention-Fly robin fly <-> JCA feat. Joe Perrone - Give me some love
    A.TrueConnection-MoreMoreMore <-> Len - Steal my sunshine
    Jackson 5 - Can you feel it <-> The Tamperer Feat. Maya - Feel it
    Loleatta Holloway-Love sensation <-> Black box - Ride on time
    Loleatta Holloway-Love sensation <-> Marky Mark & the funky bunch - Good vibrations
    Loleatta Holloway-Love sensation <-> CevinFisher - You got me burnin' hot
    Barry White-It's XTC when u lay next to me <-> Robbie Williams - Rock DJ
    Kool&Gang - Big fun <-> Marc Olivier - Big fun '99

    PatriceRushen-Forget me nots <-> WillSmith - Men in black
    Sylvester-You make me feel(mighty real) <-> Eyes cream - Fly away
    Cerrone-Give me love <-> Bob Sinclair-Give me love

    OK this is not too much disco but from that era:
    The Price is right TV show <-> Crystal Waters - Come on down

    About "Technotronic - Like this", what disco song did they sample ???

    One last thing, I believe the most sampled sound of the early 90's would be James Brown's famous screams going on every second beat.

    According to a Rolling Stone article circa 1992, the most sampled record up until then was James Brown's "Funky drummer". You can hear it on Fine Young Cannibal's "I'm not the man I used to be" and Sinéad O'Connor's "I am stretched on your grave".
    Hey, I never thought of that Barry White song when I listened to "Rock DJ". But you're right, it's the same keyboard chord. Is it a sample?
